Thanks to all those who helped with tips on hotels, etc with Calgry. Now DP is apparently holed up in the hotel with a crippling bad back. Is there anywhere he can go for painkillers such as Tramadol. Will he have to pay??

Does he have travel insurance?

Have no idea. He went with business - but its his business and he's self employed. I don't even know if he filled in an e111

Apparently Tramadol (or tramadol combined with acetaminophen) is called Tramacet in Canada. But it's only available on prescription. Can his hotel hook him up with a doctor?

I imagine he'll have to pay -- if he has travel insurance he will probably be able to claim it back but should check with them first.

(BTW, E111 is (a) out of date (now you have a European Health Insurance Card) and (b) only applicable to Europe)

When DH needed a Dr in Canada, he was told it was cheaper to go to the hospital, who then gave him a private prescription to take to the pharmacist
