Should we get a lightweight buggy?

We have a bugaboo which we love. We also have a sling that we think is brilliant for traveling with.

We are going to the Maldives and was only planning on taking the sling. However, we began thinking - what do we do in the eve when we have dinner and want to take DD with us? Should we get a (cheap) lightweight buggy so that she can sleep in it when we are having dinner? We dont plan on having late nights, but even 9pm is late for her.

If we dont get and take a buggy what are the other options. We don't want to take the Bugaboo.

TIA

How old is your baby? All depends on that, I'd say.

A lightweight buggy is probably a great investment anyway and you might be surprised how useful it is to have any buggy on holiday, unless the baby is really tiny and you'll have her in a sling the whole time. But maybe you and dp will take turns having a lie on the beach and the other will want to take dd for a walk? If she is very wee, remember that lots of lightweight buggies don't have a reclining position or at least not a very flat one, so that might affect your view on a sleeping option.

Again, if she's tiny, would a car seat be an option for taking her to the hotel restaurant? have a lovely holiday.

I would definitely take a buggy ... as jkklpu says you may not want dd in a sling the whole time (it gets hot after a while) ... she may like to be able to have a lie down when you are out and about or lie next to you in a restaurant etc.

She will be 12 months when we are away. She's crawling, bit a little one.

We are going to the Maldives, so no sightseeing, but from what you folks are saying I think that a cheapo lightweight buggy would prob be a good investment.

I bought and M&P aria on ebay last year before we went on holiday - think it cost about £20, it is one of the lightest buggies on the market, folds well, lies flat and has a snack tray - it waswitout adoubt one of the best things we have ever bought, infact we ended up using it for day to day and then bought a new one.

Ds was 11 months when we went away.

Hi,

I've been to the maldives 4 times and would definitely take a buggy for her to have naps in when you are out having dinner etc. Be aware though that it may be hard going pushing it sometimes as the paths and the bar and restaurant floors are covered in sand.

Get an Obaby. They are fantastic quality but only about £60.

Get a MacLaren Quest - just the ticket!

nappyaddict · 13/03/2009 12:54

£49.99 - bargain

we have a bugaboo and bought a maclaren quest for the same reason, and i wish we'd bought it sooner! so easy and it has a shoulder strap for you to carry it on your back. she will be getting heavy for a sling at 12 months and will be way too hot, plus as you say you'll need to put her down in restaurants etc
