What do I take? Do I take booster seats and car seats? If I do, then do I check in the car seat for DS at the airport as he probably won't have a seat allocated on the plane? How the hell am I going to get from the Airport to where I'm going? I'm bloody mad. Why did I decide to do this?

Can I have some tips? Should I bother bringing car seats or do I hire a car with car seats?

Where are you flying into and where do you need to get to? Are you likely to need a car? How long are you here?

It's just a short flight from Luxembourg to London City. I will take a cab in London to where I'm going and will then get a hire car to get where I'm going next. I think I should bring over the car seat for DS. Is this feasible?

One big wheelie bag for all our kit
One push chair - mclaren
One hand bag / changing bag for all on board kit for me and DS
One small rucksack for DD's precious stuff and she can carry her own booster seat if we put a strap on it?

Give car seat in at check in.
Keep booster seat with us.

Give pushchair in at plane

At luggage reclaim strap the car seat to the wheelie bag??? Is that ever going to work?

Yes, I've travelled with car seat + booster recently (although I checked in the booster as well). It should be fine.

Mind you, I'd be inclined to get a trolley (assuming they have trollies at London City -- I don't remember) and put wheelie bag and car seat on that, then wheel trolley to taxi rank (if you're taking taxi directly from the airport).

Good point. I forgot about trolleys. Damn sleep deprivation is doing my head in. Maybe I should just stop over thinking this and just go with the flow?

Sounds like a good plan, you will probably be able to hire car seats with the rental car, although they won't fit them and you know how to do your own car seat better than any other!

Beware that the baggage handlers aren't particularly careful though, maybe cover the car seat with "fragile" tape?

I would just get the hire car from the airport - save messing about with all that kit in a taxi! Taking a load of bags and 2 kids into london city centre is way more hassle than its worth if you can avoid it!!
