we're flying to spain in march, with easyjet.
never flown with the children before so have a coupel of questions.

1.) anyone know off-hand what baggage allowance there is on easyjet?

2.) will the pushchair count as a piece of luggage??

3.) will pushchair have to be checked in, or can we keep it until we're at the gate?

oh and also, what are current guidelines re food/liquids on the plane?

is it ok to take snacks on for the children or will we be expected to pay for them on board?
can I take a bottle of oat milk for ds2??

not sure on baggage allowance, check their website as i think you now have to pay per bag?
buggy does not count as luggage, you tell then you have it when you check in bags, they put a tag on it and then youkeep it with you until you get on the plane - you literally leave it at the doors of the plane.

i think you can take food but liquids is still restricted - check the airports website

I flew easyjet a few months ago, and nancy is totally correct
wrt snacks, I just took mine on boards anyway (and was prepared to fight my corner re: allergies if necessary).
would doubt you would be allowed the oat milk tho.

meant to say about the milk, if its something thats usually stocked at boots, ring the airside shop and get them to save you some to pick up when you go through, i have done this several times and they are always really helpful.

nancy that's a good idea re the milk.

have just discovered we'll be charged for each item of frigging baggage!!!! i booked through expedia and there was no mention of not actually having a bloody baggage allowance, so am quite angry now. more expense that I don't need.

grrrrrrr bloody easyjet.

i think i can get small cartons of rice milk, so they might be ok mightn't they?
as long as they're under 100ml??

or you could decant the rice / oat milk into smaller containers?
I had piriton with me, in a 250ml container, and took a 100ml container with me. I explained to the baggage checking people what it was for and offered to decant it into the smaller (regulation) conatiner, and they declined and let me take it through. I also got through the other side and realised I had a half a banana and a bottle of water in my buggy, which they hadnt taken out.... so I suppose it all depends on the staff you get really.
so, perhaps if you take the milk in smaller containers they will let it through?

I would phone the airport that you are travelling through as it's their security people who do the checks. When I flew through Edinburgh with my son there were no limits on the liquids I could take through for him but they made me taste the water (which was already in the bottle waiting for the powdered milk to be added) and to take the top of the baby porridge and to dip my finger in and taste. We had at least 3 bottles of water with at least 210mls of water in each one.

We are flying with Easyjet in Feb and all of this is relevant to us too, i'll try and remember to come back to this thread if anything is different to what's been said here! I did get my DP to check the Superdrug at the airport as he flew from there yesterday and they do sell the formula we use to that's something!

littlefrog · 09/02/2009 13:56

You're allowed to take any volume of liquid through so long as it's for infants - water in a bottle, milk, formula. In England they make you taste it; not on the way back though.
We flew with easyjet yesterday, and we were able to take the buggy to the plane - however it then came off with the other luggage, it wasn't at the foot of the steps for collection (as with Ryanair before), which was a bit of a pain, and I was glad there were two of us - there's a lot of walking in airports until you get to baggage reclaim!
Buggy doesn't count as extra luggage, but you do pay per piece for other stuff (20kg/adult, so most cost-effective to have big bags).
Handluggage - the standard size. They probably have a weight limit, but you won't want to be up against it anyway if you have children in tow.
No problem about snacks, but TAKE YOUR OWN SPOONS ETC., they have NOTHING on board! plastic not metal, of course... You can take your own food on board as well too, definitely worth while as theirs is excruciatingly expensive and looks horrible!
