Does anyone know about the BA car seat option on longhaul flights?

Can we reserve a sky cot or car seat. The website isn't clear.

If you reserve a seat with sky cot fixing you are effectively reserving the sky cot, I think. But the car seat option doesn't seem to be available on all flights (flew long haul on Tuesday, DD too big for sky cot, wasn't offered car seat -- although was moved to another seat where there was an additional conventional seat for DD (not that she used it, but it gave us extra space)).

You can ask for a sky cot. There is also something that looks like a bouncy chair, but again I think you have to be in the bulkhead seats. I would assume that if you want to bring your own car seat then you will be paying full fare for the seat.

I heard they can attach and can provide a car seat to the bulkhead where the sky cot goes. Heard it from Trailfinders but nothing on BA website.
How old is DD. AF will be 15 mths. If there's 2 Adults, 1 child and baby maybe they'd be kind enought to give us 4 seats anyway!?

the seat/bouncy chair option instead of the sky cot does attach to bulkhead

we used it for dd2 when we flew last year. She was 11 months (and tiny) and she fitted ok, but don't think there was a lot more room.

The seat is a cross betweena bouncy chair and a car seat - it sits on a platform that is fixed to the bulkhead wall, and is then strapped down. there are car seat straps, which have to be used. dd2 was happy enough in it, but we were on a night flight so she slept a lot of the way.

we couldn't reserve the seat itself, just the bulkhead position and we notified BA that we were travelling with a baby and wanted one. It all comes down to what is available on the day.

If the flight is not full you might be able to snaffle an extra seat at check-in, but no way would BA give up a paying seat if they could help it!

On the last longhaul I saw there was such a seat - basically if you were in the bulkhead seats you had the choice between cot or chair. I think describing it as a car seat might be a bit misleading as it looked closer to a bouncy chair to me.

Here's what the BA site says

British Airways has a limited number of Britax infant seats which can be requested in advance.

Ideal for ages from 6 months to 2 years, but can also be used from birth.
Adjustable to a variety of positions from horizontal to vertical.
Available for infants who weigh a maximum of 13kgs/29lbs.
Available on all longhaul flights, except in First Class on Boeing 777/767 aircraft where only carrycots are available.

For aircraft take-off and landing and in times of turbulence, infants have to be seated on their parent?s lap using the infant seat belts we provide.

Thanks for that. Touch wood we'll get one sleeping baby and at least a 3 year old who would be happy to watch DVDs all night if she doesn't sleep!
