Crossing to Lundy Island in April - what to expect?

We are crossing to Lundy at the beginning of April from Ilfracombe. DS (7) and DS (10). I do not have good sea legs - can anyone tell me what it might be like?

Looks like you might need travel sickness pills - see here!

We have been a few times, and only once was it a bumpy ride and I did feel a bit sick, the other times were fine.

I guess it just depends on the weather that day.

Norks - uh oh! I wonder if there is anywhere to hunker down if I'm really bad. DH will have to watch the kids.

Take travel tablets or pressure bands. I went there at the end of September one year... it was a bit rough as it goes over several currents in the sea. I'm not a brilliant traveller though.

Best to stay on deck if you feel queasy I would have thought, try and sit in the middle of the boat if you can.

Simply - I'm feeling a bit worried now! Did you stay on the island or just a day trip?

It was a day trip but I think there was a Spring Tide which made the waves bigger. I'm sure you'll be fine - we went on a rattley old ferry but I'm sure it's modern ferry now.

I went.

It rained torrentially the whole time.

Everyone was sick.

My ex bf went.

It rained torrentially the whole time.

Everyone was sick.

One of the crewmen died.

Should I perhaps just ring a bell and shout unclean. This was all very very long ago, so I'm sure the boat is a bit more modern as Sally said.

I went in 1993.

It must be lovely there - my cousin proposed to his wife there.

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 28/01/2009 20:04

OMG - I am now seriously worried, esp after Bramble's comments, but its all booked.

Lightshines, I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time, we're famed for disasters!! Just take some seasickness pills and some wipes and it'll be lovely. Come back here and link us to your beautiful piccies.

I'd be sick in a pleasure boat on a flat lake, so I'm pretty convinced you'll have a better time.

... the weather being pants might give you a clue to the bleurghness factor.
