We're off for a mucky weekend for our 5th wedding anniversary on 30 October this year for 2 nights (yes, I plan well in advance). Just wondering what will be on then or what lovely mners recommend for sightseeing/restaurants etc
We'll be staying just off Princes Street

Bumping for you.

DH is from near Edinburgh - he recommends Mary King's Close.

Thisis a lovely, if expensive restaurant.

this is another lovely restaurant, just off Princes Street too!

The witcherie up by the castle is well thought of I think - but you will need to book early. There is a place called the Buffalo grill on Nicholson street I think - dh and I have had many happy meals there but you need to like beef!

I am also about to leave for dinner here

The Witchery is indeed a lovely special occasion restaurant (expensive though). I always take visitors to Mary Kings Close, for a fun touristy thing to do.

Lots of nice bars along George Street, and just off George St for drinks (very close to Princes St).

If it's a nice bright wintery day, a walk up Arthurs Seat is nice.

Depending on what kind of things you like you can visit the Castle, the Parliament or there are quite a few galleries/museums.

Other restaurants - you'd get a decent meal everywhere listed here

One of my favourite places to eat (although for casual food, not a special meal) is the King's Wark here.

And for an all round guide to what's on, what to eat, check out the list

Witchery is nice, its more a place to go for the atmosphere rather than the food though tbh, food is disappointing - its nice enough just not the best the City has to offer. Really lovely ambience though, if you decide to dine there book a table in The Secret Garden part of the restaurant.

What kind of food do you like? Seafood? Fine dining?

Come over to Glasgow! Far better

Thanks ladies - lovely suggestions. We're not seafood fans and unfortunately will be on a bit of a budget so fine dining also out. We love beef - and Scottish beef is among the best in the world. The Buffalo Grill looks yum
