Any ideas what to do? I thought maybe Hard Rock Cafe, but not sure if that's still cool or rather naff!

Also will have my toddler during day, so any ideas for something they would all enjoy?

Much appreciated

Hard Rock cafe sounds Ok to me. Covent Garden market? There's a Hard Rock there.

AussieLou · 15/01/2009 20:37

Will they have money?
Oxford Street - especially Primark (teenagers have no moral standards when it come to cheap clothes )
Camden
Covent Garden
Movies

You will have a winner with shopping.
I used to work in a girls boarding school and had to take them out every weekend.

There are lots of places to go in London that they would not necessarily pick themselves but end up liking. I have taken girls to:
Tower of London
Ice Skating
Bowling
London Dungeon

Showing my age. It's in Park Lane now - I just checked on the webpage because it occurred to me that it was a long time since I'd been! Maybe Covent garden Market still good tho. Street performers, stalls, coffee / ice-cream / cake.

My 13 year old dd1 loves London and I try and take her every school holiday. She has a set of things she loves to do and then other things as planned.

  1. The London Eye is fab for any age, from toddler to ancient, so if they've not been on it before that could be good: lots of living statues etc down there too which may amuse the toddler as well as the girls

  2. Covent Garden - this is a "must" so that she can go to the David And Goliath shop and buy weird things with gnomes on; also Urban Outfitters

  3. Oxford Street - especialy Topshop

  4. Liberty for her to fondle the designer clothes and me to stroke the staircases

  5. The V&A fashion section

  6. The Science Museum or Natural History museums

  7. coffee in the crypt at Saint Martin's in trafalgar Square

  8. lunch in Hoummus Brothers on Wardour Street

Oh she also likes the handprints outside the cinema in Leicester Square

Afternoon tea would be amazing if you are feeling flush.

Am bumping this as v interested in other ideas for dd1.

slayerette · 16/01/2009 18:49

Was about to say the Oxford Street Topshop is a must. What about the markets too - Portobello and Camden? Carnaby Street? That massive Tower Records in Piccadilly?

malovitt · 16/01/2009 18:57

Slayerette - Tower records went bust years ago. Turned into Zavvi - now also gone bust and closed.

I think the Hard Rock Cafe is a bit naff myself, my teenagers wouldn't want to go there.

Camden/Covent Garden are good calls.

janeite · 16/01/2009 19:46

No I don't think we'd like The Hard Rock Cafe either tbh.

Can anybody remember what days Camden market is on? And does anybody know any good tea and cake places that are not too far from Covent Garden/Bloomsbury/Oxford Street? Or are near to the Kensington museums?
