Never been to Turkey before and looking at the Aegean Coast area, whats the area like and what will it be like in May, also any recommendations for any nice villas/apartments. Will be going with DH and a 5 and 6 year old dd. Beaches are quite a priority!

Bumping for you.

It's been 11 years, but I had my honeymoon in Ischlemer, near Marmarus in late May/early June and it was wonderfully warm and sunny. Take insect repellent.

ByTheSea - Was that Icmeler?

Aegean Coast is quite warm in May. Locals probably won't be swimming yet, but I've seen many English & Northern Europeans swim around that time - it depends on what kind of weather you are used to.

You will also miss the crowds, because school holidays in Turkey and tourist season both start in June.

I would heartily recommend Cesme - 1 hr drive from Izmir airport. Beautiful fine white sand beaches & shallow seas (ideal for young DC).

If you choose to go to Bodrum, stay at Turkbuku rather than center of Bodrum.

Let me know if you need additional info.

My recommendation is to go further round and down the coast to Kalkan, or Kas, both are really lovely, and not full of crowds, and because they are slightly more southern the temperature should be a bit warmer.
Kalkan is close to Patara Beach which has been voted one of the best beaches in the world.

Cote - Probably. I was posting in a hurry and couldn't quite remember the name.

Akyaka......1 hour from Dalaman airport. Sandy beach and shallow seas, very child friendly. Small safe village.

Thanks for all the advice, we have seen some really nice accomodation in Dalyan, seems to be quite a bit in the area that we could do, dont want to spend the whole holiday in the car. Has anybody been here, is it a good place to be.

I went to Dalyan on a day trip, nice beach but no shade and we got there by boat although i think you can get a bus.
