have booked to go in June, staying at the Explorers hotel, a partner disney hotel.

use the VEA shuttle or opt for RS transport (private car thingy) ? difference in cost is about £40 in all.

thanks for the tip on the other thread have ordered from amazon.

researching about and have got:

go early
pack your own lunch
book at a disney cafe later on

any other tips ?

cheers

Was it my link to that book? cos its an excellent book! lots of what they call "brit tips"....... do use the fast pass system.......... be careful about packing your own lunch as i dont think they take very kindly to you eating your own food in the park. The left luggage place is good too. Its near the entrance to the main park.... it was cheaper for us to leave our luggage there than at the station! I didnt have to worry about queueing up for the rides as my ds has special needs so we got a special pass so we went in through the exit.
Oh and ive just remembered something else i read in the book....if you go to City Hall in the main park they can recharge the batteries on digital cameras there!
If i think of anything else i will come back!!

You can't eat your own lunch in the park - but they are fine with you taking it as they provide an off park picnic area....although it is quite a walk - but can also be a welcome break.

DisastrousNuclearAccident · 03/01/2009 18:18

The studio's park is much better for meetinghte characters - much lower queues and the characters seemed to be seen "wandering around" a bit more without being in a pre-appointed slot at a pre-appointed time IYSWIM.

Would anyone mind saying how much they have paid to go there in total ??

I always hear people saying that it can be done quite cheaply if you look for the right time to go and stuff but whenever I lok it always comes up as mega money.

lottiejenkins · 03/01/2009 19:21

Was fine till the last night when some joker set fire to a smoke alarm when we were on the top floor! I had to wake up my ds whos deaf..... was one of the most terrifying things ever!!

DisastrousNuclearAccident · 03/01/2009 19:24

We paid £150 for an off site hotel for 2 nights and £200-250ish for park tickets (2days). That was August peak season. Family of 5 - youngest was 2 so free though.

Transport was on top - but I don't really count that for us as we were in France and just took a detour on the way home - we had paid for Ferry as part of our holiday booking with Camping Life.

DisastrousNuclearAccident · 03/01/2009 19:25

Disney are advertising under 12's free stay and tickets ATM...but I think that is for holidays taken before the end of March.

elfsmum · 03/01/2009 19:30

we've just booked a 3 night stay

I used travel republic flights and accommodation around £750

have booked a 3 day, 2 park pass direct with disney for £348

this is for 2 adults and 2 children

our flight arrives in CDG at 10.15am on the Monday morning, and our flight home departs after 10pm on the Thursday so we're getting 4 full(ish days)

the only thing I need to sort is transport to and from the airport - how much did a local cab set you back Aimsmum - I've looked at RS transport and it's working out at £150 private return journey, the shuttle is looking around £115 with the current exchange rate

and yes lottie is was your link, thanks according to amazon will be with me by the 9th

wow that's a lot more reasonable than on line - now just have to get my haggling head on !

which I'm awful at, in Spain last year I was looking at a bag and the guy suggested a price of 25 euros and I said ooooh that's reasonable (well it was a nice leather work one) to which DH advised me afterwards I was supposed to haggle with him .... duh

OP posts:
elfsmum · 03/01/2009 19:41

btw can you speak French, or did the cab know you were English ?

don't mean to offend anyone, but I know locally here cab drivers have been known to quote a highly inflated cab fare (pre-journey) to one of my colleagues who speaks with a very strong italian accent - makes me suspcious of people being taken advantage of

not that all cab drivers would to this

not intending to offend honestly !!!

You can get the train to paris - it can work out much cheaper than flying as it is half price fares for children.

i got the train back from brussels in the summer and found I only had to pay half price for a 10 yar old. it was £24 for my dd on the train each way.

You can book trains from b/ham from later this month for easter.

or could you go for a weekend? it is 77 pound return to paris for some trips.

A tip would be to go the last week of the summer holidays - in the uk the last week of the summer holidays 2009 is the first week in sept - all eu schools go back on the 1st sept!! so the prices will be cheaper and the ques less......

Also the train should be a good price the last week (this is when I travelled last year the first week of sept) and you could get the childrens tickets for £150 and two adults for £180. travelling by train they allocate seats - no extra charge they just sit you all together, no trouble with luggage no extra charge and just get wheely suitcases. Just get to b/ham train station 30 mins beore depature and then change in london - all the tubes are free for connection and if you did miss the connection and have booked all in one they get you on the next train which is usually the next hour - much easier than planes.

find a cheap b&b for a few nights and bobs your uncles

Ivykaty44 · 03/01/2009 19:54

ps

a chamber maid I used to work with took her own tv in the car to france as she told me she didn't like those french programs she really thought then she would get uk tv.....

elfsmum · 03/01/2009 20:07

makes me laugh

liek the time DH and I arrived at our Greek hotel during some football thing and DH's words were .... "why aren't they showing the England game ....."

the mind boggles

We paid about £80 per night b and b for 2 adjoining rooms in Bussy St Georges - seatch for the threads from August/September 2008 for details - and a day pass for both parks was around £135 for 4 (prebooked e-tickets in UK) there was little advantage in buying 2 day passes so we thought we'd do so locally if needs be. However the kids had had enough after doing 10am-11pm so we spent the other days in Paris. Prices for passes aren't seasonal but opening hours become more limited. We had previously done a "kids go free" but found that the adult price was increased as if the children weren't counted as occupants. dd was under 3 then so went free anyway.
