Taking a baby to a Gordon Ramsey restaurant

Anyone ever taken a baby to a Gordon Ramsey restaurant? Which on? Are babies allowed? DD is 9 months.

We got some vouchers ages ago and thought it would be nice if the 3 of us could go together.

I wouldn't do it, terrible idea.
Stay at home.
I do know of someone who would happily take the vouchers off your hands, as a favour obviously..........

catinthehat1 · 30/12/2008 16:12

Boxwood Cafe would be my recommendation
Food pretty good, and its a bit more relaxed, partic at lunchtimes.

stillstanding · 30/12/2008 16:14

I think it would be much nicer if you went just the two of you. Take some time off to have a really lovely adult meal which you can enjoy! Your DD is really not going to appreciate it but you would!!

WalkingInAWonderStuffingLand · 30/12/2008 16:14

I'd phone ahead, my dd would have behaved well at 9mo but I wouldn't want to share such good food with her

Earlybird · 30/12/2008 16:16

Not sure the other diners would appreciate having a baby around if she behaves like a baby (crying, etc). IMO, Gordon Ramsey is an adult treat and not a place for children.

Squiffy · 30/12/2008 16:37

TBH if I were in a Gordon Ramsey restaurant I would be a bit annoyed if someone brought a baby in that then proceeded to play up - even if at lunchtime. Not very PC I know, but that's how I'd feel, and I wouldn't take my DC's to places like this.

Quattrocento · 30/12/2008 16:42

I think children and babies should ALL go to restaurants as much as possible and the nicer the better.

Why on earth do we do this in England? It's beyond weird. In France, there is a little michelin-starred restaurant within walking distance and it is FULL of children. Night AND day.

Is it because English children are unspeakably badly behaved? Is it because we as parents don't give them proper table-training?

Not taken a baby but had a 2 yr old at GR at Claridges (group meal and friend's sitter let them down)
It was fine, noone batted an eyelid

WalkingInAWonderStuffingLand · 30/12/2008 16:50

Totally agree with you Quattro, we always take dd out with us, and she is fab, she is 13mo now and we honestly have never had a problem with her when out. We have left some large tips when she has dropped food everywhere when first weaning, but I would only have an issue with kids at a posh restraunt if they were running around screaming tbh

tribpot · 30/12/2008 16:52

The only one of his restaurants that Ramsay's kids eat in is the Boxwood.

For me, a trip to a Ramsay restaurant would be a really big treat and I would hate it to be spoilt by irritating noise of any kind, whether that's some twat on a mobile phone, a screaming baby or - erm, a mariachi band (They're very annoying everywhere).

Quattrocento · 30/12/2008 16:57

But babies don't have to scream do they? Unless they are very colicky or teething or something?

I did get wound up by a baby screaming at a restaurant the other day but the poor mite was overheated, clearly hungry and was being totally ignored. As soon as she was picked up, a layer removed and fed she was absolutely fine.

I don't believe the OP is of the mindset that she would leave a baby to scream in a restaurant causing discomfort to other diners - the very fact of asking the question shows that she is considerate in that way.

ReginaFelange · 30/12/2008 16:58

I used to work at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and we didn't have highchairs. Not sure if the others do

tribpot · 30/12/2008 17:06

Must have just been my ds who cried at every opportunity as a baby and left me wandering around outside any time we tried to go to a restaurant. I'm certainly not anti kids in restaurants but a GR restaurant would be a big deal for most of us.

catinthehat1 · 30/12/2008 17:10

Quattro - with you all the way on this one, though this may be because catinthehat offspring have always been pussycats. I LOVE eating out, and I LOVE eating out with my family. Would also never tolerate mucking about/roaring/running round though, forget the other diners, that's just me. [hic by the way, have started birthday early]

Ronaldinhio · 30/12/2008 17:18

we went to murano last week at lunchyome and there were two babies there

babyOcho · 30/12/2008 21:24

I cannot find the vouchers anywhere
Arghhhhh.
