Can anyone recommend the best soft play area for a 13 month old in the Guildford/Woking area. If I want to avoid busy times when is the best time to go?

Any advice highly appreciated!

Simone

If you want somewhere that your child can toddle around whilst on soft surface, then consider Rushmoor PlayGym in Aldershot. Only runs during term-time, sessions 9.30-10.30, 1.30-2.30 Mon-Fri (though sessions are occasionally cancelled/moved due to gymnastics competitions). Cost £1 per person (so you plus your 13 month old = £2) They have various ride-on toys, ramps (ideal for crawling up), slide, bouncy castle, plus various other gym things such as balance beams (those are for older children though).

Avoid Little Angels if you can. It's fine if you're desperate, but I've always found it packed and a bit dirty. Better for much older kids as they have this huge big area to play in.

GymJams is good, tho gets hugely booked in advance, that's in Normandy. It's clean and bright and the guy who runs it gives the parents a free tea/coffee/hot chocolate.

The other good one, tho it's not soft-play as such, is the Rushmoor gym It's brilliant and my DS loves running around. It's so huge it never feels packed and is as cheap as chips.

Can't help you with the Woking area, sorry.

Hope this helps...

Sorry, cross-posted with nannynick tho as we both think it's good then you're on to a winer

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 19/12/2008 19:59

Sorry that should read 'winner', not 'winer'

Link to Mumsnet Local for map to aid with getting to Rushmoor Gymnastics.

What are you actually looking for? These indoor play places I feel are quite a recent thing and don't seem to really cater for under 2's that well.

The (very nearly 12 month old) I care for likes going to The Lookout in Bracknell. He likes falling into the ballpond (1..2..3 topple) and loves the Play Shop, seems not to eat the play food quite to much now.

Best indoor softplay I've found, is MonkeyMates in Wokingham - bit of a trek, but worth the drive in my view - they even do Coffee in Mugs (I hate the small cups of coffee you get in some indoor play places). The under 3's area at MonkeyMates has a ball pond, wooden activity cubes, animal tiles (bit like large 3 piece jigsaw).

Recently I have been going to Woosh in Bracknell(this is more as a social event for the 3 and 4 year olds) as the toddler area isn't that great, due I think mostly to a lack of lighting. The toddler area has a bouncy castle, air blower blowing 3 balls in the air (little ones can be fascinated by this), slide ending in ballpond.

All very helpful. I'm just basically looking for something to do with my son whilst we visit my parents as we live in Switzerland and we don't have play centres here. He's walking but too young to actually play outside so I need another way to burn off energy! Any been to House of Play at the Big Apple in Woking, Toadhall Adventure Play in Goldsworth Park, Pickn Mix Playstore at Woking Leisure centre? Are they any good?

I'm hoping at least some of them remain open next week?

I haven't been to any of those apart from Big Apple, which I went to about 7 months ago. It wasn't very good in my view.
I don't know what's open next week... I expect some will be open some days.

I know this is a bit further out but it's only a short trip up the A3 - I was recommended to it by a dad at gymbabes for DS (12mo) - his DS is 15mo. Piglets playcentre in Hersham.

Haven't been there yet myself but plan to go in the New Year.

Woking leisure centre is good, big outdoor playpark, and fab swimming pool.

Toad Hall in Woking on Goldsworth Park

Elodie79 · 11/01/2009 18:18

Toad Hall in Goldsworth Park has now shut down!

Snoots · 15/05/2009 11:00

What happened to Toad Hall? Anyone know why it shut?

mamamea · 16/05/2009 14:48

Lots of building work going on at Goldsowrth Park.

Woking swimming pool is not much cop, you're far better off at Guildford Spectrum, which is one of the best in the country. There is a soft play area there, but it's not very appealing, bit cramped.
