Is the Corn Exchange still there, YG? (It's about 10 years since I lived near Leeds!) That's worth a look round, FF - there used to be an old wooden biplane suspended from the ceiling! Lots of eclectic shops in there (or used to be anyway).

And of course, Harvey Nicks and the Victorian Quarter - nice lunchy type places in there.

If you have a car, then take a run out down the A65 to the Cow and Calf near Ilkley - about 14 miles out of Leeds - lovely landmark, can walk round up there, great views etc. I think it's a romantic place. Plus there is the Cow and Calf pub across the road which does nice food etc.

Sous Le Nez is a little bistro underground, quite near the train station. Very nice French food.

Restaurants in leeds that i liked were Thai Square up near the town hall which is lovely
There is a french place underneath quebec hotel on quebec street that is quite romantic
the teppanyaki is nice and entertaining, not too sure about romantic though as you have a chef with very sharp knife juggling with eggs in front of you - food good though
Oh and is it 45, the noodle place which is not romantic at all as lights are very bright but food is yummy scrummy mix of all oriental
Though yuo could do 45 the calls which is quite romantic too

I lived in leeds for six months on expenses so have eaten out qutie a lot there.

I have spent the last few minutes wondering why i would want to walk round electrical shops, i was thinking oh maybe he would like that, he did study engineering, thanks god i re read it.

I would like a trip out into the country so thanks for the tip

There are quite a few good sites out there - I just googled Cow and Calf Ilkley and there are lots of images and information.

When are you going fairyfly - we are up for a wedding and staying at the PP on the 9th!! We will be the ones with the 3 yr old though, hahahah...

Definitely second going to Ilkley & walking up to the Cow & Calf rocks. Great views and you can stomp about the moors singing 'On Ilkey Moor bah't 'at' (if you know the words).
Then afternoon tea in Bettys Tea Rooms in Ilkley.
Lots of stuff in Leeds Art Gallery (my favourites are the Atkinson Grimshaws) & the Henry Moore annexe, or pop over to Salts' Mill in Saltaire if you like Hockney.
