Hi we are off to Spain at the end of the week for Xmas and I'm looking for some opinions on seating on the plane. There will be DH and I plus DS. Would you go for the seats next to the window so you are out of peoples way or would you go for the aisle seats?

Thanks

I think you have to be by the window as that is where the extra oxygen mask for infants in laps is. that was what we were told on monarch anyway.

for a short flight it shouldn't matter too much as the person on the aisle won't have time to sleep and you won't be up and down too much anyway in that short a time.

good luck! we travelled with our 11 week old DS back in June and it was much easier than I thought. Good idea to feed or offer a dummy on take off and landing to help their ears. Take more nappies and changes of clothes than you think you might need as your DS will choose the airport or plane as the place to do a massive explosive poo!

I've never been told that there was a limit on oxygen masks for infants, and I've been seated all over (not on Monarch though). I'd go for an aisle seat if given the choice, but on a short flight like that it shouldn't make too much difference.

Thanks we can pre-book our seats so I think I will go for the window. Noted on the extra clothes and nappies. Would hate to turn up to the parents with half naked baby wrapped in a blanket

i think it probs depends on the type of aircraft - the plane we were on was a 6 seater (3 on each side) and they said their extra air mask was by the window, and i know a lot of airlines use the same plane for shorthaul so i figured it might be the same. i guess i just meant that there might not be the choice about where to sit.

we had 2 spare sets of clothes, and he was in his final clean clothes before we even got on the plane!

I took my DD on her first trip to Spain when she was 10 weeks (and i travelled on my own). I sat in the window seat, no one sat right next to me and a lady sat on the aisle (with Ryanair).

Flight was so easy and DD was so quiet that when we got off the plane where amazed to discover there had been a small baby right behind them. We have since flown another 7 times and DD is only 15 months (my mum lives in spain so we visit frequently). I'm sure you'll have no problems and your DS will more than likely sleep the entire flight.
