Going from Heathrow, T3, on 22nd December, midday. Am guessing will be 3 hours, but DH determined to unnerve me by saying 2 hours will be fine. Close to Christmas.... what's the current security like?

3 hrs I think

are you going anywhere nice?

www.ba.com will tell you check in times

Not going BA, but American. Will it be the same?
Friends in NC for Christmas and New Year, with New York for a few days inbetween.
SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!

Also check whether or not you need to announce that you are entering the country.
Think i read somewhere that UK visitors have to tell the US authorities (on internet) that they are coming.
Otherwise you could get turned away at the gate.
Best check with your travel agent.

sorry where is NC?

how about www.americanairlines.com?

Think that's from January. But, as I like to worry, I'll check for sure!

Def 3 hours from T3 - the queues there can be horrific at the best of times

clam · 14/12/2008 21:33

Three hours and also because of the security lines at Heathrow which can be long.

The registering on the Internet for all pax to the US comes into effect mid Jamuary 2009. It will then be compulsory to register your travel intentions to the US on line; the permission you receive will last two years (and as they do not remind you when that two years is up you need to remember).

Thanks Attila. I had a feeling it wasn't til Jan. Can find something else to worry about now.

No industrial action imminent, is there? Or blizzards forecast?
