taking medication/needles on flights?

I've just been put on heparin injections which I have to do myself daily until my baby is born in February. I've been given boxes of the needles which come pre-loaded with the heparin and which are in individually sealed packs. Problem is, I live abroad and am flying back at the end of December and a bit worried about whether I can take one hand luggage or whether I will get problems at security? All my supplies I will split between my suitcases and hope they arrive ok but I will have to inject on the flight due to the strict timings I've been given. Has anyone got any experience of flying with needles? TIA

I needed to take pre-loaded injections for allegies on a flight to america. I was advised by customer care centre to get a doctors note to go with the injection explaining the situation. I had the original letter with me and a photocopy with the hold luggage. Hope this helps.

thanks for that Redrun, I was thinking of taking a copy of the prescription and seeing if I could get a copy of the doctors letter. Stupidly I forgot to ask for that at the hospital yesterday! (blonde/pregnant moment!)

You should be able to get one from your GP or your countries equivalent - may cost you as some charge for this (well in the UK they do!!!)
