Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to have lunch near the Royal Albert Hall?

I'm taking my Mum to the RAH on Saturday to see the Masters' Tennis, it's a birthday treat for her so I'd like to take her somewhere nice for lunch beforehand. We have to be at RAH by 1pm so it needs to be somewhere that'll be open early enough.

TIA

You can eat in the cafe there. The food is pretty OK.

WE ARE GOING TO THE TENNIS TONIGHT!!!!!!! a bit excited about it.

There is a nice hotel just round the corner, I think on exhibition road called the Gore. Has a beautiful bistro restaurant, covered floor to ceiling in prints and pictures, very nice room and food good too. about 5 mins from the hall. Should be easy to google to get web address, as it is a hotel, I guess it maybe open early enough.

HTH

Phewwwwww. A lovely friend had loaned me her nanny for the evening.

We went and it was great! We saw:

Cash v Edberg
Bahrami/Fleming v Gullikson/Jarryd

We had to miss the last match to get home to relieve the babysitter. The first match was 1.5hrs and the second just over 1 hour.

It was fun - I am not sure just how seriously they take it (esp the doubles) but it was great entertainment.

Just wish the gits in the boxes would shut up, stop clanking their glasses and sctually watch the tennis! Even the players asked them to be quiet. Last time we went the umpire pulled the boxes up a few times (there is always one or 2 really noisy ones). I can't believe how many boxes looked empty for most of the event but you could see people standing at the back of the box (you can't see much from there) quaffing wine and laughing loudly. You also get a lot of noise from the back from staff clearing up all the crockery as they seem to serve pretty much throughout the whole event.

Glad that you got to go and that you enjoyed it Georgiemum

We have afternoon tickets so hopefully the clinking glass brigade won't be in evidence

So far on the ticket we have Sampras v Pioline with a couple of TBC's (dependant on the results of previous games I suppose)

We will probably go to Kensington Square Kitchen if we get into London early enough, or failing that we'll eat at the RAH.

Thanks again for all your suggestions
