How loud is the Earl's Court Dr Who Exhibition?

I want to get tickets for me & DH to go to this as a Christmas Present for DH. He loves Dr Who, so would be really pleased, and I like it a lot (but not quite as mad as DH) so would like to go too. But we will have to have DD with us - she will be 18 months. I'm not worried about the "scary" factor but I see that the website says it contains loud sound effects. We've not had a problem with her being particularly scared of loud noises - she was a little wary of the hoover, but is now just curious and I don't recall anything else. But I'd obviously hate for her to be horrified by it. Am I mad to consider going?

Hi Jammy - it is quite loud, although iirc most of it is like having the tv on loudly. There are some interactive bits which could make dd jump a bit, but the main 'noisy' bit features the daleks. It is well signposted though, so you could wait outside the dalek area until it finishes (about 5 mins I think) then walk through.

They were very relaxed when we went (half-term) and we could go around as many times as we liked, so you could whizz through for a recce first, then you'll know where everything is.

There's a cafe in the foyer before you go into the actual exhibition, so you could alwasy have a rest there if dh wants to go and have a longer look.

Yoyo - thanks for that info. I think I'm going to go with it, especially as you've said there is a cafe in the foyer. I she gets unhappy perhaps we can take it in turns to go round one at a time while the other sits and entertains her in there with a drink and a biscuit or something?

DH has plans to start initiating her into Dr Who with the Xmas episode I tell him just not to expect her to sit through an episode for ages and if she has nightmares after a scary episode he can deal with it

Hmm - think priming him to deal with potential nightmares is a good move!

Just one thing about the exhibition - you've probably seen this, but it's in the Museum Hall, not the main exhibition hall. The nearest tube line (if you're going by tube) is West Brompton (District Line).

Despite 'Museum Hall' being plastered all over the website and on the ticket, I managed to miss this, and we went to Earl's Court tube and had to walk around the back. It's not that far, but was very confusing coming out of Earl's Court tube to find the Exhibtion Hall plastered with Jeremy Clarkson, with not a dalek in sight!!
