They're doing their £9 offer at the moment and hoping to book a couple of cheap family nights away.
I've stayed before so I know what to expect ....
Just looking for one that's clean and not on a very noisy road.
Any suggestions?

Burford Cotswolds

You can visit here which is really close, also Oxford and the Cotswolds generally.

HTH

Windsor

saggyhairyarse · 10/11/2008 20:08

We stayed in the one in Covent Garden and it was clean. It did say there was the possibility of road noise but we thought it was quiet!

misdee · 10/11/2008 20:16

there is one in welwyn garden city. its just off the A!(m) at hatfield, but far enough away from the A1 so you dont get much road noise. its a 10min walk max from local station which gets you into central london on the train within 25mins.

short walk away is the local lakes and sports centre.

southeastastra · 10/11/2008 20:20

there are about 6 here blinkin things

mrsmaidamess · 10/11/2008 20:22

I know you shouldn't pick the Kingston Upon Thames one. Very noisy at night apparently (next to a nightclub)

FimboGotAxed · 10/11/2008 20:25

We have stayed at the one at Thurrock services which was surprisingly quiet but we were at the back. It was a £9 one.

Very handy for Ikea and Decathlon

ChippyMinton · 10/11/2008 20:28

Windsor is new-ish, so I'd hope it was clean. Although it's on the upper floors of a shopping centre there are a lot of nightclubs on the street below, so might be noisy at chucking out time.

sellorrenovate · 11/11/2008 18:05

I've stayed in the Windsor one and it was fine.

squeakypop · 11/11/2008 18:07

I don't think the Windsor nightclubs are anywhere near the Travelodge.

I would think that is a good place to pick. There are loads of things to do in Windsor.

sellorrenovate · 11/11/2008 18:14

I know Windsor very well and can confirm the night clubs are no where near the travelodge. The only odd bit about it is the parking. You have to park in the shopping centre multi storey which is 15 pounds for 24 hours, the travel lodge give you a 5 pound refund. Having said that the hotel is within walking distance of both (yes there are 2) stations i.e. Windsor Central (via Slough) or Windsor & Eton Riverside (into Waterloo).

sellorrenovate · 11/11/2008 18:15

There are also loads of child friendly restaurants within about 200 metres

ChippyMinton · 11/11/2008 20:07

Sorry but I must disagree about the nightclubs. I'm referring to the ones in the arches on Goswell Hill - Vanilla etc. This a quote from the travelodge website "Due to the location of the hotel certain rooms may be subject to noise from the bars in close proximity to the hotel."

It's good to know that people haven't been disturbed though

johnnybuoy · 12/11/2008 13:21

hmmm, I obviously didn't phrase my original question very well. I live in London and meant places which are between 1 and 2 hours drive away, ie the south coast etc.

There's a nice one in Romford but you have to park in the multi-storey which is a charging carpark. No free tickets for guests. I've stayed in the Travelodge in Luton as well which is quite nice - a modern one.

I stayed in a lovely one in Holyhead but that's probably a bit too far .

scampadoodle · 12/11/2008 13:28

Are travelodges ok? We have booked the Leeds (Colyton?) one for both legs of a London - Scotland journey. I'm not expecting luxury but are they dry & warm & with functioning kettle & telly?

Simplysally · 12/11/2008 13:43

They should be ok for a night's kip. You'll get tv, kettle. You don't always get a bath, sometimes it's only a shower.

The modern ones are really nice (all white rooms) but the older ones can be a bit naff. But the beds are decent sizes.

sinkingfast · 12/11/2008 19:47

johnnybuoy, my recommendation is within 2 hours drive of London. Or did you only want coastal?

peachygirl · 12/11/2008 19:51

The Croydon one is good.

My parents stayed there when I had DD. It's 20 mins from East croydon station into central London on the train. Tha station is about 5 mins away. Croydon also has lots of shops of it's own.

johnnybuoy · 13/11/2008 23:11

SinkingFast, thanks, that is useful. I have actually booked a room in Stonehouse in Feb as we want to see a bit of the cotswolds. Anywhere nice really, obviously coast is nice but wouldn't mind places like the brecon beacons, norfolk?
