Yesterday i went to get my ROOTS done (it's dyed and hylighted like a soft brown sunkissed look .
Anyway, new stylist said she was going to run the dye through for the last 5 minutes to even it up. I let her and it turned out a dull dark awful colour and even my HUSBAND said it had a grey tinge.
I went back and they cleansed it (which i've never had done before) and then put a few highlights through. Now it's very very light with a tinge of orange and looks not great and feels like straw .
What my question is is, can i at least put a gentle ash dye through it or am i likely to go bald!!??

I am talking about doing a dye myself now!

do nothign yourself!

go back to the salon again and complain, say you arent happy and want it sorting by them, get the head stylist, otherwise make them pay for someone else to do it

LOL at "even my HUSBAND"!!! (cos men never notice a bean)

Ideally you would go back to salon and get your usual/the most experienced stylist to do it again.

however having had hair disasters myself, the last thing you want to do is go back there (again). Plus any more permanent salon colour won't help the condition.

If you want to try a colour yourself do a strand test first using a white saucer. Wash & blow dry strand as normal then hold it up against your normal hair.

I have highlighted hair and have used wash in/wash outs (little foil sachets) for subtle colour changes. I don't leave them on the full time tho - I buy several so I can build it up gradually. It grabs onto highlighted hair far more than you'd think.

I go for the lightest ash wash in/wash out (ie the one that comes an alarming shade of PURPLE)! as it soothes orange tones. it is also good for putting a pale blonde back in when it goes the other way and the highlights are grey rather than blonde.

Alternatively John Frieda highlight activating range is good for cleaning up highlights, the platinum shades one.

Finally, it will fade out over a few weeks so if you can bear it I wouldn't do anything at all (bar maybe one little wash in wash out). Three colour sessions in one week is a lot for hair to take. Try & give it a few weeks to harden up before doing anything else.

Sympathies cos I've been there countless times and it's HORRIBLE, and good luck!

Ps I have heard that shampoo and conditioner for silver/grey hair is excellent for knocking out brassy tones. it is also the alarming violet colour but that's what counteracts the orange, apparently.

Thanks ladies.
My feeling is indeed that i don't want to return to the salon.
I probably will try a wash in wash out sachet just to calm it a wee bit as i have parents evening on Monday!!and will be mortified with bright white/orange hair.
Thanks

good luck and would still recommend doing a little colour strand test even with a wash in wash out (just in case it makes it worse). Be careful!
