We are going to be visiting family for a few days at the end of November in London. As well as going to see dinosaurs at NHM was wanting to go somewhere with a christmas feel to get him excited. I saw the winter wonderland thing in Hyde Park online. Has anyone ever been and is it any good? Would be grateful for any suggestions.

I live around there and winter wonderland is ok, not great or a little one if it's busy. My recommendation would be to get a bus down Oxford Street & Regent Street, sitting on the top deck at the front so they're right up in the lights - DD1 looves this. You could also head to somerset house on the Strand as it's always very Christmassy with the ice rink. Too young to skate I imagine but the little ones seem to like to watch. Christmas market in Covent Garden with the little elves houses also good plus some shopping for you maybe!

try hamleys, fantastic section where the kids can just play and you can walk through the winter wonderland...natural history museum and ice rink?

Would second Hamleys and looking at the lights/windows on Oxford St etc, I have magical memories of being taken to these as a chld

Thanks everyone. Just want to get him giddy really because it's the first time he's paid much interest!

Marylebone high street often has christmassy events going on and fantastic lights etc. A bit less crowded as well down there which may be a plus as your dc little. Do you know anyone that could keep an eye on London press to see whats on?

Yes we're stopping with my uncle and his DP but thought i'd tap into wealth of experience here too as he hasn't got kids. Ds isn't usually bothered by crowds etc. Only thing bothering me at moment is buggy or not? My gut reaction is not as was bit of a pain last year when stayed in summer. He does walk quite well and will be going with 5 adults. Don't know if it will be easier to just take turns at carrying him when need to. It's just the fact it wll be busy....whatever i do i will probably regret!

There will (I assume - has been the last few years) a Christmas fair outside the NHM as well, so allow extra time for that. If the weather is good, Kew Gardens is a good option as they'll have their Christmas stuff going by then, I imagine.
