Advice about transport in London

We're planning a day out in London in December to see the Xmas lights - we're taking the train to victoria then probably going to go to the science museum basement, then Harrods toy department, followed by oxford st/regent st lights then back to victoria. DD1 wil be 2.10 and dd2 will be 10mths - we'll probably take the double buggy as it will be a long day so whats the best way to get around - tube? bus? - not sure we can afford taxis - help we haven't 'done' London with kids yet o it feels all new. thanks in advance

What kind of double buggy have you got? Side by side? If yes, go by tube - you won't get that on the bus. If you can, travel outside rush hour.

Get out at Gloucester Road Tube instead of South Kensington, there are lifts there instead of stair/escalators, and it's only about a minute further away.
BUT if it's raining then stick to South Ken, as there's a subway all the way to the museums.
You can walk from museums to Harrods - 5 mins, probably 10 with babies!

From there get the Picadilly line from Knightsbridge to Picadilly, from there you can walk up Regent St to Oxford Circus and see all the lights (and Hamleys if you wish!)

Then Victoria line back from Oxford Circus to Victoria BUT AVOID RUSH HOUR it gets packed. Stairs at Oxford Circus though.

Have fun!

We have a tandem... how do you negotiate tube stations without lifts - is it really difficult?

Victoria to Knightsbridge is reasonably walkable.

Bus for all overground, I would suggest.

If you do the tube, South Ken station is pretty close to the surface and will take you to Picaddilly Circus, so just a short walk up Regent Street to Oxford ST.

Can you put your little one in a sling, and just have a single umbrella fold buggy?

As long as there are two of you, scrappy, you will be ok. If in doubt ASK for help. Some people offer, some don't, but I've never been refused help on asking.
Most stations have escalators.

Victoria and Knightsbridge are pretty close, as Squeaky says, though I have never walked it myself. I would get the Circle line, though it's not always reliable.

Harrods is Hell at Xmas...don't do it lol!
Seriously, it's really packed and tbh the toys are pretty much the same as you get anywhere...but more expensive.

I meant Hamleys
