Half term in North Norfolk - ideas?

DH's parents live in Fakenham and we are heading up there for half term.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any good, family-friendly days out that we haven't yet discovered. We have two girls, aged 3 and 6. The in-laws' horizons are a little narrow and we've rather exhausted their ideas about entertainment!

We've done the Dinosaur park just outside Fakenham and we've done the beaches at Wells and Holkham. I've just come across Holt Country Park on the web - is that any good?

Any other suggestions for helping our kids run off some steam?

Child-friendly places to eat would be nice to know about, too, although grandma's cooking is v v good!

Holt CP is fairly nice, nothing special. They may be doing special children's activities this week (I can't find my copy of the local Primary Times, but you should see if Holt CP has a website). The coming week is 1/2 term in Norfolk, btw, may not be where you are coming from, I suppose.

F&C at Wells is my idea of eating out, lol, no help there.

Is Holkham Hall open? (check website), they have lots of room for running amok. Blickling will be open, too, and they are another place you can just park for small fee and picnic.

Look at Sheringham Country Park, too, nice viewing tower to climb (I like Sheringham CP better than Holt CP, personally). Have you been on the Steam railway? Goes Holt - Sheringham, there's another railway Walsingham to Wells.

Tank collection at Muckleborough is good for little kids.

DD (7) just went to Gressenhall with school and found it fascinating (old Victorian workhouse).

Oh yeah, Castle Acre ruins, Baconsthorpe castle and Oxburgh Hall -- Google all those.

Thanks! That will give us a few new things to try.

(DD1 is missing two birthday parties and the local Hallowe'en festivities because we are away this half term, so we need to try and make it extra fun!)

If its steam ur looking to get rid of i took my youngest 3 to Bewilderwood last year and i dont think i have ever seen them so exhausted after a day out. Think the web site said they would be open at half term but i would check first.
