Are we mad to go to LEGOLAND in half term?

Have been promising to take DCs for about 2 years. This is the only time we could arrange it and have used clubcard vouchers to cut cost.

Is it going to be hideously busy?

Any top tips?

If our town centre is anything to go by today (not officially half term here, only inset day), I bet it will be unnaturally quiet for a half term and you won't have a problem. I think the credit crunch will have an effect.

We have been end of July and it is busy but bareable so I should think it would be OK.

we were there last weekend and it was fine - I think half term will be quieter than summer holidays, is colder for starters! hope you have fun

Yes, but it's fireworks time. We're going on Saturday and hoping it's not too bad.

I went at the very end of the summer holidays, to me it was total living hell.

Hot, sweaty, sticky, swarms of desperate people hopelessly hunting for a queue that was less than an hour long to stick their screaming, complaining, sugar filled child in.

But then again I'm not really an amusement park kind of gal.

It will be busy but I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Get a Q-Bot if it is busy...we went at the end of the summer hols. The first day was wet and not so nice, we hardly had to que at all, managed 5 rides in 4 1/2 hours, the second day was very busy and so we got a q-bot with that we managed 5 rides in 5 hours! It really made the difference, but was only necessary because of the number of people.

It's been very quiet lately cos it's so cold. Wrap up well, the winds there are so icy!

Take a picnic, because the food is nasty.

When you get there, most people seem to get the Hill train down and start in the middle. I'd recommend walking past that and heading straight for the driving schools and boating schools, because the queues there get really bad later on.

Pack ponchos if you have them for the water rides. It is waay too cold to get wet, and you do get very wet!

We went yesterday and it was wonderfully quiet with few queues of max 15 minutes - we stayed on some to ride twice as noone was waiting! Just about warm enough to dry out from water rides too. Went for fireworks in half term 2 years ago and it was very crowded and chaotic. They may operate a time system for Jungle Coaster(didn't yesterday) so check when that opens as could be 10.30 or 11.00. Head right down to the bottom to ride Pirate Falls and Dragon Coaster, taking in the Viking Splash en route if it is open.

oh and we thgouth the food was fine - pizzas and pasta at the City restaurant were hot and tasty

Very, very crowded yesterday. As we were going primarily for the fireworks we didn't get there until about 2.30 so had to park in the overflow carpark which is a bit further away.
Queues were long apart from the river ride. (We did this first stupidly and spent the rest of the day wet!!) Jungle Coaster had closed the queues early. Mini roller-coaster was about an hour's wait. Rides closed an hour before the fireworks which started at 6.30 although quite a lot re-open afterwards.

Fireworks - fantastic!!!

I'm not sure of any tips about leaving - it took us an hour and a half to get out of the car park, we didn't leave straight after the fireworks nor stay to the end so I think you have to be prepared for the wait. On the plus side - we didn't have to pay for parking for some reason, so saved £6!

It will be a strong-willed parent who doesn't succumb to buying a light sabre (only £5!! )

I think the fireworks are only on at the weekend so maybe mid-week won't be so manic.

Yes - hell on earth. The only time I have found it bearable is on inset days as they vary from school to school - EVERYONE is on half term this week. But.... if u going expecting to hate every minute, it can only exceeed your expectations Xmas Grin
You can get a year ticket, whcih all the locals do, whcih also gives a discount o n meals, and so it is always crowded, as for locals (especially groups of mums with toodlers )after few outings , it is 'free', so they might as well go every week.
