What else would you recommend to take in hand-luggage as entertainment for a toddler on a 2 hour flight?
So far I've thought of crayons and books.
Thank you

When we flew to M.East with DS (roughly 5 hrs) we took a portable DVD player - fab fab fab!! Its also great while on hols if they are having a whingy five mins and nothing on the TV for them to watch!

Buy several small items, wrap them individually (old magazine paper is fine) and produce one when you need a new distraction. Rule of thumb is one present per 30 mins or flight. The excitement of unwrapping passes a few mins

of flight, not or flight..........

Sticker books? my 21 month old is keen on them. A little pot of play dough. My SIL recommends a role of masking tape to while away half an hour

Loads of sticker books on amazon

We did 4 flights in a week a few weeks back and I took the following to entertain my 2 year old!

Something new for each different flight (mostly from pound shop)...
Sticker book
Play dough
Mini etcha sketch thing
Magic painting book

Plus I let him sit by the window (stopped him realising he could get out plus the view distracted him every now and then)

PLUS I took a mini DVD player for emergencies. He watched toy story on one flight and loved it and then on holiday he watched it for 30 mins every morning while I showered and got the baby dressed. Definitely worth having!!

Thanks. Some great ideas. And I've got some small things already wrapped leftover from when his brother was born in August, that I prepared in case anyone turned up with a "new baby present" so he didn't feel left out.

I got a small set of Play Doh it was Fire man Sam - 3 tiny tubs, cutters and a tool. My DS played with it for hours. Also got a brand new Thomas Book and a sticker book...kept him amused for the 2 hr flight to Majorca.

Plus he loved the toilets!

Also ont eh way he did like the novelty of hte inflight telly thing too.

Also i got an airport themed book for him to read.

Take some snacks too.

Aitch · 16/10/2008 21:23

phdlife · 16/10/2008 21:25

1 prez per 30mins = .... 38 presents.

DanielMummy · 17/10/2008 11:00

Knock them out with hard drugs.

Illegal and dangerous, you say? Dang!

thehairybabysmum · 21/10/2008 09:25

I took play dough through no probs in Sep. DH had looked at tit and said there's no way they'll allow that, it could be Semtex but nothing said.

Joking aside, I was once on a flight with a poor lady with 3 children under 4. They slept for most of the 13 hour flight. I asked her the secret. She said small blue pills crushed up! Can I safely give my 2 and a half year old something to aid her sleep through a 13 hour flight? I'm hoping she'll sleep at least 10 hours!
