Hi Spudcounter. I am going there on 6th October. I believe there is no coffee/tea/kettle in room so are planning to take one. Also heard characters come to the hotel at breakfast time and there is a spot (behind the lifts) where they can have pictures taken. Will update you when I get back.

HI Spudcounter. Ok here is low down on the hotel New York. We had disney express and if you can get this. It means when you are on the train someone comes round gives you an envelope with your park tickets in and luggage labels. When you get off the train you go upstairs to the express counter and they take your luggage to the hotel you go straight to the park. Also in envelope is your registration form. Fill this in before you get to the hotel, saves time. The hotel is a very short distance from the park which is excellent. Because we had gone to the park we didn't check in till 5.30pm which meant there were no long queues. Our luggage was taken to our room and was waiting for us. Our room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked the lake at the front of the hotel. No evidence of any building work. Room was a decent size with two double beds a tv and table and two chairs. Bathroom had two sinks and a shower over bath. Room was very clean and so was bed linen. No tea and coffee but you can rent a kettle with tea and coffee for 8euros a day. We took our own. Bar is nice and there is a kids playroom with a few toys opposite. Although these do get locked away. Each day on the notice board they put up which characters are coming to the hotel and at what time. It is usually Minnie, Mickey or Goofy. Was good as queues not as long as park. Two restaurants, parkside diner which is a buffet and Manhatten which is a formal Italian. We had half board plus which meant we could eat in the parkside one. Evening buffet was very poor. There was a selection of cold meats for starters. Choices for children were a mickey burger in gravy with onions or cheese pasta. There was veal sausages, carrott risotto or ox steak. We felt it was a poor choice and even worse quaility. Breakfast is in either one and is very good. Usual cerals, cold meats, bacon, veal sausages, eggs and toast, rolls with jam and honey. Service was good at all times. The hotel pool was nice and they supply towels so don't take any. Also has a hair salon. Now a word of warning. The beds are very high. On our first night our daughter fell out and hit her nose on the unit inbetween them. We had to get the paramedics and go to hospital where she had 6 stiches. The hotel was fantastic and really dealt with us quickly BUT everyone we met said their children had fallen out so beware. Put pillows between the bed and the unit and then put the quilt cover folded on the floor. Overall we thought the hotel location was excellent and so were the facilities. We thought the food was very poor where ever you went and expensive. Book an evening meal at Cafe Mickey so the kids can met the characters. Expensive but they come round all the tables and there are lots there. A meal with the princess is 55 euros each. We ate at Annettes diner which was good as they are on roller skates. There is also Planet hollywood or Rainforest cafe. Most main course meals will set you back approx 25euro a head. A beer in the hotel was 6.90euros. Hope this helps.

sweetie, I hope your daughter is ok and it didn't spoil your holiday too much. It must have been very frightening for her and you. I've just been looking at booking a disney hotel next year when my DD will be 2 1/2 so the bed thing is a worry. Thanks for the warning.

Hi Mumoverseas. DD is fine, stitches out and nice neat straight scar. One thing from this is she now will not sleep without a night light. Previously never needed to have one but since accident she won't sleep without it. Definitely put the pillows between bed and table unit and put the blanket/throw thing on the floor (for some reason floor is very very hard). Have to say apart from that the hotel was very good.
