October half term - somewhere sunny with a variety of activities that doesn't cost an arm and a leg - any suggestions?

DSs are 13 and 14 - planning to go with another couple whose ds is 12. Wouldn't want to spend more than about £600 per person.

We've looked at Centerparcs in Holland and Germany, but would prefer somewhere warmer.

Thanks for your help

You could go here

5* Crowne Plaza La Torre Resort
golf course, tennis, swimming pools
15 minutes from the beach and Sky TV

There are 3 town houses each sleeps 5 with 2 bathrooms, dining patio and 2 solariums overlooking the golf course. Supermarket that does home deliveries. Spa at the 5* Crowne Plaza hotel, restaurants.

Best of all each town house is just £250 a week so that leaves plenty of money for flights, car hire and day trips there is lots to do and see. Plus the region has 300 sunny days a year with an average in October of 20 to 25 degrees.

Sounds a pretty good match for what you are looking for what do you think?

Thanks for that, but it's not really what I had in mind. I want 'organised' activities - mountain biking, kayaking, white water rafting, climbing or similar for active teenagers. I don't think a pool and a golf course will cut the mustard!

But thanks for the link - it does look lovely

...and something with NO Sky TV would be preferable!

Anyone?

hi Fortyplus

Well I can't help you with Sky TV it does have cable but this setting has everything you need for activities you suggest nearby. The resort would be able to help you book but it is not right there as per Centre parcs.

The Resort is situated 20 minutes drive away from the coast and one of the cleanest beaches in Spain is only 10Km away. The Mar Menor saltwater lagoon is the largest in Europe and has waters 3C warmer on average than the Med. Water sports for all the family can be arranged around the Lagoon.

Water sports available including diving, Jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing. There is also waterparks nearby and quadbiking.

All along the coast, from Cabo de Palos and Portman to Cartagena or Mazarron, the National Park of Calnegre or Cabo Cope, there exist numerous possibilities for going hiking. In the inland areas you can arrange hiking, pony-trekking, mountain-biking, mountaineering, rock-climbing, trekking and rafting.

Various specialised companies organise day-long activities which can be enjoyed in the heart of the countryside, on land, at sea or in the air, provide: potholing routes through caves of exceptional interest, horse-riding, rural activities, white-water canoeing, cave-diving, deep-sea diving, paragliding, hang-gliding.

A lot of cut and paste going on here to give you a fuller picture of the region. Found this site which is the tourist info for the region. Let us know if you find somewhere. Defo need a car in this region.

nappyaddict · 07/09/2008 20:31

oh just read your second post.

fortyplus · 08/09/2008 14:07

Thanks, though - all suggestions gratefully received! I'm wondering about Morocco? A bit short on white water but camel trails and so on might be fun. Anyone been there with teenagers?

lanzarote has submarine excursions, camel trips, parasailing, jet skiing, horse riding, windsurfing, body boarding, scuba diving, fishing, water skiing, surfing, hikes at timanfaya national park, sky diving, paragliding, parachuting, cycling trips, go karting etc.

israel is lovely and you can do lots of activities..lots of water sports. tel aviv being the main city but there are lots of other lovely places..dead sea for desert activities etc..its a 401/2 hr flight to tel aviv..still hot in oct ..we might go oct although we did spend 3 weeks in summer...

SubRosa · 08/09/2008 22:55

Just adding to what Bambi06 wrote - Israel is brilliant, especially in the south. Eilat is warm up until November and there's plenty to do - such as going in a submarine, swimming with dolphins and seeing clownfish and parrotfish at Coral Beach.

bambi06 · 09/09/2008 14:30

whats nice about swimming with dolphins is tha tthey are free to swim in the sea, theyre arent in tanks and are not kept in captivity..hope im still right ..its been a while since i went to see them
