Hi I am sick of staying the house this weekend and we fancy a day out tommorrow with or without the dogs. Will consider either option.

Willing to travel 1 hours from Durham area

Any recommendations will be gratefully received Ta x

I used to love Bamburgh Castle when I was little. It's more like 90 mins away from Durham though.

Corstopitum is also fun for kids.

Bamburgh is lovely, and great for the dogs on the beach, but just a little bit too far!

Lightwater Valley? Fairly nice but not huge theme park, 50 miles from Durham.

Hall hill is just a mile away from us, and we have been a few times.

Is lightwater valley not a bit too old for a 2 year old

We thought maybe doing the discovery museum for about an hour and then having a walk to quayside for lunch

LW does have stuff that would appeal for 2.7. but it is mostly for older children. Agree FL may be better.

I'd say the Discovery Museum is probably a bit too old for an under 3 apart from the water play. There's loads of interesting stuff and I found that I would have liked to spend time reading the info etc rather than wizzing round at 2 yo speed. If its good weather I'd say that you can't beat the beach and I'd definately recommend Seaton Sluice, it never gets too crowded and dogs are no problem and you should be able to do it in an hour. I don't know what you think about indoor play areas but if its raining the Dragons Den on the Team Valley isn't bad.
