Greenwich - Worth a trip?

Thinking of taking kids to Greenwich. Heard about Cutty Sark etc. Is the Royal Observatory worth a look or other suggestions to see around there (DS is 9 - DD(14) may or may not come).

I think the Observatory is worth visiting but check their website as I think they're having some works done (I could be completely wrong, though). If you could combine it with a trip on the DLR and then under the tunnel or a trip in the boat from central London, I think it would make the day even nicer.

National Maritime museum in greenwich aswell. Its free to get in and they have what they call a 'hands on' gallery. My older 2 love it there, loads of things they can have a go at.They are 7 & 10yrs

The National Maritime Museum is good, if your kids are into boats. I think all the non-exhibition things are free.

Also, I think there's a skating rink down there.

I love Greenwich I used to live there too. if you take a walk through the tunnel. and turn left on the other side a 2 minute walk brings you to mud shute farm. small but free and the kids love it.
Royal hill next to the park there used to be a little coffee shop called ondeans. she makes a mean home made cake, if she still there. There is also a fan museum on croomes hill [parallel to Royal hill]

Yes, it is right by the Cutty Sark, first time we visited I thought it was an entrance to toilets!!

i used to nanny for one of the families who lived in vanbrugh castle.odd inside as it was divided into four homes. it was acually quite small inside as the space was divided vertically.

yes but not imeadiately. please bare with me as it's been along time. but if you walk away from the exit you come out of you get to a main road. cross the road and walk left and a little way down on the right is another road that leads to the park.

Hi MML, my dh walked under there last time with my fil and ds (whilst us ladies were shopping in the market)he says the farm is signposted when you get to the other side. HTH
