I really want to book a hol first week SEpt and have noticed prices are holdign and not dropping at all.

Do you think they will drop as the kids get ready for going back to school?

Probably yes, but if you have school age kids please don't make them miss the first week back. It is horrble for them when they come back into the class and a real PITA for the teachers.

I once had a kid who missed the firast week back in year 7, bloody nightmare for the kid as she was adrift while everyone else was settling down

In my experience no they dont. They start to go down about 10 days after the school term re-starts.

I totally agree Martianbishop and I would not do it when my lo is old but he is only 3 years old. He will miss the first week of pre-school, however I am not too concerned as all the new little ones will be starting and I think they will be lots of tears which may unsettle him... so not too concerned. Next year in Sept he will start his school visits so would definately not take him out.

I will keep checking out the holiday I want to book but it hasnt come down in the last 2 months!

Prob not the sort of tour operator you are looking at, but Canvas Holidays dropped their prices for September, 2 weeks ago. Got a bargain price for the hols we were looking at. My parents said they noticed the prices didn't drop last year till the beg of Sept.

I'd hold on if I were you

The prices are already lower than previous week. I suspect it unlikely they'll come down much further due to increased fuel costs etc

We have booked a holiday for the first week in September and it was quite a bit cheaper thean the previous week, I do have school aged children but fortunately they have 2 inset days added to the school holiday so are not due back at school until 8th September.

Hi everyone!

The best way to bag a holiday bargain is to book something during the ?shoulder seasons?.

Shoulder seasons fall at the start and finish of the ?high? or ?peak? season ? for example, mid-June or late August/early September.

Many hotels, flights and holidays are reduced in price to tempt people to travel at slightly different times. The weather is usually still good (something you can't always rely on during the ?low? or ?off peak? season) and retailers and restaurateurs tend to reduce their prices to shift their stock as the peak season winds down.

It?s usually worth booking these types of holiday last minute in order to take full advantage of the lowest available prices. Travel operators and airlines will want to fill any outstanding seats and hotel rooms, particularly for package holidays, so prices plummet and you can reap the benefits!

Happy travels!
