I haven't lived in Scotland since before we had dd aged 4 and ds 5 months so would appreciate any suggestions for a week we are spending there at the end of the month.
We will mostly be on the west coastal side of Scotland but Glasgow area is within easy reach. SHould be able to access a car but not guaranteed!
Anyone?

Chelsy girl, are you thinkong of the Gourock Lido? I havememories of that from when I was a kid....even down to the jellyfish I found in the pool one day!!

Haylstone, I was supposed to be up at my mum's this week, finding stuff to do so I know where you are coming from! But we had to cancel, so twiddling my thumbs in sunny Manchester!

I'm not sure what its called, its the only outdoor pool I know of in Scotland Greenock! Water was from the sea and very salty 0doh!, tasted minging.

I think that's the Gourock one then, they have I think got rid of the two free pools where I found the jelly fish, but still have the open air one to pay for! My grandma used to live in the sandstone flats near there, we spent a lot of time on the "splash" as we called it!

Clarty!

We live on the shores of Loch Long.

The flippin' sewage goes out that way it is so minging I would not swim in that.

Also, just south of Largs is Kelburn Country Park, seems to have loads of stuff for kids now, we were going to go this year .
Expat, I know totally minging but we never cared!!!

Loch Long very close to us Expat!
I've got loads of good ideas now so thank you all very much!
Seriously, if anyone is in Glasgow the last week of August on the Mon/Tues/Wed it would be lovely to have a mini meet up.

us, too! except you're on the other side .

actually, we took the cruise on Loch Lomond from Tarbet, just up the A82 from where you are.

nice village, too, good hotel and a nice park if you care to picnic.

it also has a train station is shares with Arrochar.

finlaystone estate near langbank is a nice wee estate, may be nice if weather good, and not too far from your ferry crossing point, i think.

House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park (Ibrox exit on the motorway) has a nice child friendly cafe (with a terrace if weather is nice) and lots of kids goodies in the shop. Playground is quite unusual and lots of fun. Also most kids seem to enjoy watching folk coming down the dry ski-slope too which is always entertaining. Parking is free but if going to the cafe at peak times it is best to book - the house itself is closed quite a bit for weddings and things also.
I love the Botantics in the West End - there is a nice walk up the river to Kelvingrove from there as well.
Last time I was up there was a new children's bookshop in one of the lanes (one opposite the underground I think) off Byres Road which does free story sessions and some other kids activites. Sorry don't know the name of it though.
Hope you have a fab holiday.
