Can anyone comment on wheelchair access in the Greenwich Planetarium and or Port Lympne Zoo?

My dh says there is wheelchair access at the Greenwich Planetarium. He has negotiated it with a buggy.

port lympne very hilly and a very long walk (we take the safari truck ride round but I don't remember that being wheelchair accessible)

Howletts (Port lypne sister park and not to far away) is walkable and flatter ground

yes, we went to Port Lympne a couple of years ago and I remember it being a right old slog...but DS wasn't using a wheelchair then. I could push going down the hill, DP back up..... It's reputed to be a uch better zoo than Howletts - is that true?

Port Lympe is way cool (I live in the village) but yes, very hilly, its all downhill when you are fresh as a daisy.........
There are truck things back up, I am sure they would transport a wheelchair & user back up BUT it may mean getting out of the chair. Is that possible?
Howletts, still hilly, but some up & downs rather than all one or t'other.

Yes, DS could get out of w'chair for short trip.
Last time, though, when he used to get v tired walking we waited and waited f that shuttle bus and they had given up because they didn't have enough staff.

my dd's love port lympne animals (elephants/giraffes/rhinos) and the truck ride but prefer the gorillas at howletts, although thinking about it we've been to port lympne 5 times in last 2 years and howlettes once so that obviously proves which one they prefer!!

Greenwich Planetarium was only remodelled this year so it if it not DDA-compliant they should be ashamed of themselves Blu
Ds says it has "space games and stuff" - this is a recommendation.

We really struggle to push DD's pushchair round Port Lympne. I prefer it to Howletts but Howletts is flatter.

Well, I think we will have to brave the hills at P Lympne and use it to mark the start of our fitness regime. I just couldn't remmber whether the entrance was accesible - I seem to remember queuing on a long flight of steps alongside some baboons??

Dh reckons the Planetarium is of definite interest to a science-inclined 7 year old. As is the nearby National Maritime Museum, which is an easy walk down the hill - perfectly wheelchair friendly. The National Maritime Museum is a nice experience (do not be put off by the somewhat specialist name) and also wheelchair friendly.

Don't go to Port Lympne if it is raining as all of the animals hide away and you don't get to see much!!
I do remember there being a minibus at PL as we went with my FIL who is registered disabled, but not in a wheel chair. THey were good - but it was out pof peak season!
