DisneylandParis: best way to get from CDG airport to Disneyland Hotel New York?

Okay, have booked flight and hotel but need to arrange transport from the airport to the hotel. Any suggestions? How long does it take? How much money? We're travelling with a 7 and 3 yr old. Thanks

I'd take the RER...that's how we did it from CDG. It's a short, easy train ride. The trains are set up for pushchairs and the like. Just make sure you avoid the rush hour. DD is 7 and FREAKED out completely because people shoved her and pushed her and just acted like she wasn't there. I got so cross and ended up shouting at them, in English, so it probably didn't mean much but it got it off my chest!

That aside, travelling during the day and at weekends was a real delight. It takes around half an hour for the whole journey (max). Tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids looks like it's coming in at

Didn't see this before we did our trip, but perhaps that was because we were focussed on the RER.

The people at the station are very helpful and speak enough English to help (which was great for us as we speak very little French).

The Euro/pound exchange isn't great at the moment, so it'll be an expensive trip. We always took a little breakfast back to the room from the Disney resort to help out with lunch/mid day snacks. If you can live with McDonalds, it's the cheapest place to eat near Disneyland.

Also, they have a useful little shop at the train station at Eurodisney where you can buy stuff like pop, snacks, sandwiches even. LOADS cheaper than buying on resort.

We did, however, find the deli on Main Street did great Croques for lunchtime at a reasonable cost.

Hope you have a ball there. We went about 8 weeks ago and the magic has kind of rubbed off, though DD still thinks it's the best holiday ever!!!

There is a direct coach service from CDG that goes to all the Disney Hotels - have used this several times very straightforward goes about every 10-15 minutes so just need to find which door from the terminal and walk straight on to the bis

do you know how much it is sl?

The RER from CDG is frequent but be aware that there is no direct line; you need to go into Paris on Line B and then out to Disney on line A. You change at Chatelet Les Halles (A big underground station). Quite a long trip really and not great in the rush hour with kids and luggage. Not sure is Squilly is quite right with half an hour, I'd say more like 1hr 15min...

www.ratp.fr is the Paris transport website

An alternative is to take the direct TGV from CDG to the Marne La Vallee Chesssy station (where the Eurostar arrives) from where it's an easy walk to Hotel NY. Only takes a few minutes; however the TGVs don't go so often (there can be quite long gaps) so you need to check the timetable quite carefully and needs a bit of planning..

www.voyages-sncf.com or try Rail Europe for an English speaking person at the end of the phone. 08448 484064

Also be aware that the TGVs are long distance trains that need reservation (though you can buy tickets at CDG) that just happen to stop at both stations, don't miss your stop!. If you know what your doing they'll be quicker and possibly cheaper than the coach shuttle; if your not sure I'd probably recommend the coach shuttle over the RER or the TGV...

I'd do the TGV, but then I'm a French Train anorak :-) - I'd be intererested to know if other MNers have done this?

If you want any more info post back and I'll try to help!

When I was researching this, I found a good write-up on disboards.com's Paris forum, the conclusion that the chap (? I think chap, not sure) came to was that if he were travelling light on his own, he would take the TGV, with children and more luggage he would take the VEA.

I was convinced - I was all set to go via Eurostar and VEA until it hit home that the VEA is a bus and therefore DH would throw up all the way there ...

spudcounter · 07/07/2008 13:01

oh dear, it's more complicated that I thought...don't the hotels do shuttle buses??

As far as I know there isn?t an official Hotel shuttle bus, the VEA shuttle mentioned above is probably the closest thing to an ?official? shuttle, being recommended by Disney (others might be as well ? but the VEA is quite high profile and very well organised). Not cheap though ? 60 Eur each way for your family. The Paris Shuttle that?s also mentioned above is a little dearer but claims to be quicker.

As with all these things it?s a trade off between cost, speed and convenience ? depends what?s most important to you!

I?ve tried to help by summarised the key points of all the main options below ? I hope that makes things simpler and not even more complex ? I?ve tried my best!!!

Options listed in descending order of costs, all costs are return for your family of 4:

Option 1 Taxi

Cost: ??? (but probably more than the Shuttle Coaches!)

Speed: 30 ? 50 minutes

Frequency: Whenever you want

Convenience/Ease of use: Very

Option 2 Airport Shuttle coaches (eg VEA)

Cost: Eur 120-140 return

Speed: 30 ? 60 minutes

Frequency: Every 15-60 minutes

Convenience/Ease of use: Very

Option 3 TGV

Cost: Eur 70-90 return

Speed: 15 - 20 minutes (Incl. short walk from station to Hotel NY)

Frequency: Roughly every 60 minutes but with some bigger gaps

Convenience/Ease of use: A little more complicated and needs preplanning/booking. Also not as good if flight from T1 or 3, as station is at T2.

Option 4 RER

Cost: Eur 70 return

Speed: 90 minutes

Frequency: Every 10 minutes

Convenience/Ease of use: Doesn?t need preplanning, but most difficult option with kids/luggage etc.

Hope that helps!
