Anyone know about immigration officials?

DD is having a passport in my (ex)married name, I've done a change of name deed for her to have my maiden name but because it was done on a 'can't find the father' basis it's not enough for the passport office. All fine, but we're going on holiday with my parents in 4 weeks and I've just found out my father booked the Eurostar tickets without checking with me and booked DD's in my maiden surname, so the surname on her passport and tickets is now different.

The tickets are non-changeable so to correct it I'd need to book dd a new ticket which would be almost £70.

Phoned Eurostar who basically said they didn't give a stuff what name people booked in, that it was down to immigration officials to check and it should be fine but take the name change deed just in case.

Thing is, could immigration turn round and refuse to let dd travel or would they accept the deed in the same way people take their marriage cert? Anyone know or know how I'd find out for sure? Googling immigration just comes up with the usual stuff about moving countries

To be honest, I think you'll be fine with Eurostar and the advice you've been given seems OK, and if you have both documents you'll be covered. If you were flying/going to US, I'd be a bit more wary.

they should not need to check your tickets, only passports, but take the paperwork with you for in case.

I was told that I would not be able to travel with tickets booked in my maiden name if my passport had my new married name...

any chance that the booking could be changed to the other name?

I would phone Eurostar and ask for advice

Thanks, only going to Germany so no flying whatsoever involved.

DDF - told by Eurostar? No chance of changing booking unless I pay £70 for a new ticket, which I can't really afford if I can help it (skint, parents paying for holiday as they want us to go to see relatives). I phoned Eurostar who said it wasn't down to them, that they rely on immigration to check up on people.

I have been on Eurostar in the past and not been checked at immigration at all, which was lucky, as I had forgotten my passport! I don't think the passport and ticket necessarily need to match on Eurostar - when we were travelling with groups, there was never any name on the tickets, just the group name.

No wobbly..told by BA...rules may be different I guess...
GoodLuck!!

Thanks all - looks like I may as well chance it, will have some proof if we get asked, sounds like they're not too picky. I know airlines are incredibly hot on everything matching which is why I was a bit worried but if Eurostar are that relaxed generally then I'll see how it goes . Thanks!
