Bath- travelling alone

I'm driving to Cornwall over half term and want to stay overnight (1 or 2 nights) in Bath and explore. As a female travelling alone I want a hotel that's a safe walk from restaurants and nightlife and either with parking or a nearby long stay. During the day I'd like to sightsee and museum-visit. Not bothered about the baths. Would really like advice on what streets are the one's with evening entertainment/good restaurants, good quality hotels and things I should definitely try to see/do while there. Thank you!

6 of us had jacket potatoes that were only warm, undercooked and grey. The young people working there were very stretched and we didn’t want to make it worse for them by complaining but on looking at the trip advisor reviews later realised we weren’t alone in not being happy with our meals

Apex hotel is very nice but equally I have stayed in the Premier Inn and Travelodge for £39. Stayed often and find it feels safe

I’ve stayed in the premier inn down next to the cinema a few times ( even though I live in Bath) once when my H had Covid over Xmas I stayed one night to let him be able to come out the bedroom - we were going away for new year and he didn’t want to give it me ! And an almost identical situation when he had norovirus!! Yep it’s totally fine, central and I got it for£47 both times!!

It’s not a formal restaurant at the American museum it’s a little cafe at a museum. So somewhere for soup and a sandwich type lunch. Don’t think it’s even open in the evening.

Holbourne Art Gallery has a Ravilious exhibition on at the moment

Not sure of your budget or timings - Bath can come at all price points! There is a massive long stay car park near Queen Sq, and you could stay at the Francis. Bath is very walkable and very safe. You can stay overnight at the Southgate Car Park as well.

Museums: The Holbourne, the Roman Baths, the American Museum, no 1 The Crescent, the Hershel Museum are all excellent. The Fashion Museum is currently being refurbished, so not open. Basically though, you're spoilt for choice!

Food - Root, Beckford Canteen or Bottle Shop would be my first ports of call, but there are many, many places to eat, again at all price points. Bath is perfect when pootling around, looking at things, popping into shops (do go into Rossiters, it's the best!).

Agree, root is lovely but every time I go there, it's pretty empty

Eh? Do you mean not bothered about the commercial thermal baths? The Roman Baths is one of the best historical / museum visits I have ever been on!

I was a bit puzzled by that too! Maybe OP meant she'd visited the Roman Baths before? If not though I'd highly recommend a visit 🙂
