Hi helenmh - I live in Suffolk, near the sea, & thoroughly recommend it!! The National Trust have some very nice cottages, especially at Minsmere, I think they do long weekends. I am going away for 10 days tomorrow so can't do any research but if you haven't found anywhere by end Jan, post again & will try & find out some details for you.

Perhaps we could meet up when you come, I have a 2 year old son?

Hi Helen. Hoseasons do a book of country cottages and another for Holiday Lodges and Parks. They offer short term and midweek holidays so may have what you are looking for.

sorry I meant to say that they have an online site.

Try this company. I got their brochure today, which deals with the whole of the UK.

Hope this works

Thanks for all your help. We have just manged to book a timber lodge through hoseasons Abbey view, Leiston which is about 2 miles from minsmere. Sounds ideal. Alot of places would only take 3 night bookings 28 days before at that time of year. Thnks for your ideas Lindy. My boys are 9 and 11. If your are free to meet up on a beach or for coffee let me know. Anybody got any tips on places to go, restaurants etc. My husband sails a small dinghy, anyone know a good place to sail it. Thanks again for all the help. helen
