Car seat laws overseas - am I being a total div?

Hi, is it just me or is it not very easy to find out what the laws are on car seats in other countries? I've seen www.childcarseats.org.uk but it's still very vague and says you have to check the rules for yourself, so what's the point of having that information there?! (I have made this point to them.)

We are going to Croatia and need to make 2 probably 10 minute max trips by taxi so I'd really rather not lug the car seat but looks like I might have to just to be on the safe side.

This is mostly just a rant but if anyone does know about Croatia specifically, I would be very grateful : )

You're not being a div at all, it's worth finding out what the rules are where you are going - try the RAC and AA websites - they tend to have useful things like european driving laws on their info pages.

good luck I can tell you in South Africa its not law to use a car seat and you have to ask the rental companies to supply one or take your own as we did.

I don't know about Croatia, but here in Germany a lot of the taxis have integrated child seats (boosters) in the cars. What age are your DCs?

She's only 7 months MmeLindt so a bit little but trust the Germans to have come up with something! Thanks for the tip on the RAC and AA, hadn't thought of that.

Finally got through to the consulate and they didn't know (not surprising really). But she did have the good idea of contacting a taxi firm direct. Now I feel a bit thick!
