Filling food that can be kept in a backpack for travelling

Going backpacking in Europe for a few weeks. On a couple of days we are getting into places very late so will just be going straight to our accomodation.

I want to take some substantial and easy snacks for those days. They need to be light and transportable, not need refrigeration and be usable in hotel rooms. Obviously I'll try to go to the supermarket before hand but I know from experience that isn't always going to happen so I want an emergency stash.

I have porridge pots and pot noodles. Anything else you can think of?

I've left it really late so can only go to Tesco so I cant get those packets of food designed for camping.

Ta!

What transport are you using to arrive to places? I would plan to arrive on those late days already have eaten aboard the train. Check whether the transport you're due to get off has onboard catering. Otherwise just buy food before boarding your transport. IME you always end up with a rolling food bag of bread, fruit and snacks while backpacking. No need to bringdried food from home unless you're going up mountains.
