Are the Canaries warm enough for a February half-term family holiday?

Has anyone been to the canaries in February half-term. Looking at booking our family's first package holidays. Is the canaries warm enough in Feb Half-term? I know that people go there then but when I look it up it is about 19/20 average temp, which would be pleasant but maybe not hot enough for outdoor pools etc. I really stuggle with the winter months so a holiday in Feb could be great. Also I think our half term falls differently to others as when I have looked up prices it is quite cheap and the weak after is about £1500 more. I was just looking for some advice from people who have been in feb.

As others have said, it can vary. Sharm el Sheikh would be better for sun and heat.

I remember being in Lanzarote maybe 17 years ago now and it was January and the weather very up and down, I remember us talking to some British restaurant owners telling us it was the worst winter they'd known in 12 years of living out there at that point, I think climate change has destabilised the weather systems over the Atlantic and made the canaries a lot more hit and miss weather wise in the winters. You need to think about what you would do to occupy yourselves if the weather wasn't for beaches and pools.

We went in Feb half term and it poured with rain on about 4 days. Was warm the rest of the time, sunbathing weather,

We went to Lanzarote last three years in Feb - week before half term and have touched lucky with the weather.
This year was particularly bad the weeks either side and also most of January.

A heated pool is a must and I think Gran Canaria/Tenerife are warmer anyway as the other two are windy islands.

Needless to say I’ve booked again for February.

Canaries - yes. I went to Tenerife 3 years ago in Feb half term and it was about 22 at the start of the week rising to 27-29 degrees at the end of the week - lovely but did get cool at night. There was no AC and the pool was unheated so it was pretty cold in the pool but it was fab weather.

Also look at Morocco Agadir - Feb half term. Lovely results and weather - It was a steady 27 degrees all week. Again cooler in the evening. Very safe on the resorts and surrounding tourist areas.

There is always a cool breeze. Welcome in summer and less welcome in February! You will want an indoor heated pool as 20⁰ feels like 17⁰

We have been a few times Feb half term. Nice temperature for young kids. Beaches were lovely but outdoor pools too cold.
Lanzarote was windy, Tenerife was nice.
It's quiet, warm and pleasant imo.

I went to Gran Canaria in February 2 years ago. It was mid to high 20s. I did find the beach at Maspalomas a bit windy but warm enough to go in the sea. I preferred sitting by the pool. I'd go again at that time of year.

We went in March one year and had biblical rain and it was bloody freezing until the last two days (we were only there a week, and said never again!) Everyone was huddled in coats, drinking endless cups of hot drinks to try and warm up. Apparently the coldest winter / early spring they had experienced but in my view too unpredictable to risk it again! Remember the canaries are windy so that takes any temperature down quite a notch too.

We’ve been in Feb Half term to Gran Canaria - which I think (but might be wrong) is one of the islands with the most predictable / fairer weather. It was around 21 degrees but felt warmer than that - more like 23/24 - but evenings it did cool down so a cardigan was useful and it could be a bit breezy when by the pool. Still warm enough to swim in heated pools and wear summer dresses in the day but we may have Just been lucky ! One thing I’d recommend for smaller children is a shortie wetsuit as that made the difference between my DC using the splash park and not. It wasn’t hot enough for them to go in and out of the water in Just normal
swimwear.

We’ve been to magaluf in Feb half term the last 2 years. About 21 degrees but cooler in the morning and evening. Too cold for unheated pools but lovely in a heated pool or hanging out building castles on the beach. Shorts and T-shirts for daytime with a cardigan when it cools off. We love it, the temperature is perfect for going out and doing attractions or spending hours on the beach, you need suncream but can be comfortable all day without feeling like you’re burning up.

Had been to Tenerife and Gran Canaria in Jan a couple times and found it v warm…..then booked Lanzarote for Feb half term and it was so cold we had to ask for portable heaters in the hotel room 🤣. We had one nice warm day before we left but on the whole we weren’t really prepared for the cooler weather - would have packed much warmer clothes had the forecast been accurate !

The Canaries had a particularly cold wet season last winter, it's not than Lanzarote is different from the other islands.
I had to cancel my holiday in February due to illness and was slightly mollified by the fact that it rained all the week I should have been there.
I always pack warm clothes for evenings.

We've been a few times in Feb to different places. I treat it like a British sunmer holiday; mainly light summer wear, but also emergency jumpers and a waterproof for use if needed.
Generally it's t-shirt/ shorts weather in the day and cardigan in the evening.

Sunset is around 7pm, earlier than British summer, but positively luxurious compared to battling through a gloomy British winter until light at 5:30.

Unheated pools can be fresh. If they're quite open to the sun all day, they're fine for bobbing around. Shady pools will be cooler and keep the crowds out (although as an open water swimmer in the UK this is no loss to me. I also take shortie wetsuits)

We go regularly in Feb/March to the Canaries. I would avoid Lanzarote not because it isnt lovely but it has quite a cold wind on the Costa Teguise side. For the rest weather is unpredictable and can be cloudy. It gets dark earlier and you will def need a jacket at night. We've had some lovely warm weeks but went to Tenerife this year and it was really stormy. Rain, fog and snow on Teide. They closed the schools and the National Park. All the beaches were cordoned off with police and lifeguards stopping people walking on the sand. Bit overkill if you ask me but outlines how changeable it can be.

It's kind of like the stock market. Overall November/December/January/February are way way better than the UK, but you do get sudden dips and might be unlucky if you plump for a week when that happens. The first time we went to Lanzarote it was a dark gloomy snowy morning in the UK, the roads to the airport were hairy and the takeoff was dicey, then we landed into glorious sunshine a few hours later, immediate rush of warmth and light on our bones and faces. That was a good day.

Ive been to Mogan 7 times on a winter holiday varying frm November all thru to April.
Every single one has been gorgeous weather.

Went February half-term a few years back and wasn't warm enough to sunbathe and rained three days. Waste of a holiday.

I have been twice. Windy but warm and pools too cold to swim in.
