Night flight, clothing ?

I'll soon be on a long-haul night flight with a lie-flat bed, Sri Lanka Airlines.
Never done this before, & looking forward to getting some sleep .

Not sure what to wear. I usually sleep naked, but don't think that's a good idea !
I don't really want to buy PJs, & don't know how private the cubicles are.
Any suggestions, please ?

Not private enough to change in - if you mean the pod seats! We were given pjs in first class but even then, I’m in two minds about it. Change your top in the loo when you clean your teeth after breakfast. Take that in your hand luggage. I look at the temp on landing too. Do you need shorts? Or can you stay in trousers or joggers? Airports tend to be air conditioned but you can change in Loos. I find changing before I sleep a big faff and prefer to freshen up before arrival. Just eye up the loos for queues!

Oh - enjoy the sleep! It’s so much better for you. Often business gives you a toothbrush and toothpaste and a comb and little toilet bag but I usually pack my own plus a roll on deodorant and my perfume!

Looking at their website, their business class pods dont appear to be open to the aisles/don't have sliding doors like some airlines do.

So I think if you want to get changed for bed you're going to have to do it in the toilets - this isnt unusual in BC btw.

In terms of what to wear, I usually go for bed shorts and a tee shirt - still suitable for walking around the cabin, if you need to, and not as hot as pyjamas

I usually just wear the clothes I wear to the airport - loose trousers with a comfortable waistband (no tie waist), a tshirt & a non-wired bra. And take fluffy socks.

I then just freshen up when I arrive at my destination.

The ones by the aisles must be open or how do you get into the seat? They must have access and a “door”.

Probably a response to my post - I mistyped "don't" instead of "do". What i was trying to say was the seats had open access to the aisles and not doors like, for example, BA do

The review of business seats says the window seats are more private. I’d try and reserve one of these and I’d also read seat guru to see if any are red flagged. Usually by the loos!

Change in the loo always. I wear comfortable yoga pants, t shirt and a lightweight hoodie to sleep in on a plane. I find layering helps as the temperature can change a bit throughout the flight.

OneLimePombear · 11/07/2026 23:26

Thin joggers and comfy long sleeve top.

PinkNailPolish2026 · 11/07/2026 23:38

Thin leggings and a baggy t-shirt for me, we always fly Emirates and their blankets are warm. Business Class isn’t normally cubicles but first class normally is. If we’re travelling business I get changed in the loo, first class I change in the pod.

@PinkNailPolish2026 BA have pods in Business. Depends on aircraft but Sri Lankan appear to show pods.

Seat guru not there any more? It is redirecting to Trip Adviser! Anyway loos are at the front on both sides so I’d look for window seat in mid division. There aren’t that many rows.
