Taking yoyo3 stroller on jet2 flight as cabin case

allgoodthings84 · 06/07/2026 00:00

we are flying with jet2 next week and hoping that we can take our yoyo3 stroller into the cabin with us (as it’s expensive and don’t want it damaged and want it right off the plane at the other end). We will only have 1 other cabin case between 4 of us (allowance would be 4 cabin cases) so it’s not an extra. It’s also within the cabin case size allowance and has the dust bag it came with so know it will be within the size allowed.

Has anyone flown jet2 recently and been able to take their stroller onto the plane in place of a cabin case and not had to check it in the hold?

IME if you leave the child in the buggy until you get to the gate they take it when you go to board and put in the hold and give it back as soon as you come down the stairs on landing so it doesn't get thrown around with the luggage

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 06/07/2026 05:38

Never seen a buggy as cabin baggage! Yes, it’s put in the hold when you board. Buy a cheap holiday buggy?

Wishiwasatailor · 06/07/2026 06:12

Yep have flown multiple times (Ryanair/easyjet&jet2) with the buggy (Joolz aer) as cabin bag take it to the gate put it in the bag and carry it onto the plane.

Bjorkdidit · 06/07/2026 06:49

If it's within the size limits, you have the allowance and it's bagged so they probably won't notice it's a stroller, then it seems reasonable to take it in the cabin.

Locker space on Jet2 flights is often less pressured than the likes of Ryanair because many people are on package holidays that includes hold luggage so only take smaller bags in the cabin.

I know you can take it right to the plane door unfolded but it might be worth folding it and bagging it before that if you can, so staff don't see 'stroller' and want to put it in the hold.

I was on a flight last week and in the air, there was an almighty bump, like we had run over something(!) and I can only think it was turbulance causing all the baggage in the hold to shift and crash into the floor of the plane so anything delicate could have been damaged.

It’s really common to take a Yoyo as a stroller. You don’t need to disguise it or anything, the staff will be really used to it,

For info Cargo/bags are loaded so as not to shift significantly if at all, even in turbulence,

A sudden single jolt is much much more likely caused by the aircraft you are in flying across the wake of another aircraft.

I’ve used a yoyo as cabin luggage for years. Crew should be used to it!

Honeyhonayboo · 06/07/2026 07:28

Absolutely fine to take it on board, it’s literally the point of the yoyo.

You don’t need to hide that it’s a buggy like some comments.

OK, thanks for that and I suppose you're stating the obvious, after all, the cargo doesn't all end up at the back of the plane on take off and crash into the front of the hold on landing Smile

So in a way, we had run over something, that something being disrupted air. Every day's a school day.

Google says:

Jet2 Allowance: Jet2.com hand luggage allowances stipulate your cabin bag must measure no larger than 56 × 45 × 25 cm and weigh up to 10 kg.

YOYO Dimensions: When folded into the backpack, the YOYO measures 52 × 44 × 18 cm, well within the Jet2 limits

Kungfoopanda · 06/07/2026 08:47

We’ve done this before, with Jet2 we just folded it and put it in its bag and walked on. Cabin crew recognised it and it was fine. Last year with Ryanair, I paid for a carryon for this purpose and they still made us check it at the gate. It was fine, a bit annoying but I think it’ll just depend who you get on the day. I think Jet2 will be fine though

NewUserName2025 · 06/07/2026 08:58

Not a YoYo, but I took an iCandy PIP as cabin luggage on Jet2 without any difficulty- cabin crew are used to it.

When I took a slightly larger stroller previously, I took LO to the plane in it, but then didn’t get it back until baggage claim - meant wrangling a just-walking toddler through the airport, which was…fun…🤪

I haven't been allowed to take our yoyo on any flight recently. They've reduced cabin bag size and it no longer fits officially (it definitely does fit unofficially). I recommend the Decathlon rucksack flight bag. It's really tough and the yoyo fits perfectly. Yoyos are very tough, it's come out fine. Ours has already been through at least 10 times.

bk1981 · 06/07/2026 14:46

We did with easyJet last year. It was questioned at the gate but I said it was within the size limits and that we had paid for the overhead bags and they let us on.

hahabahbag · 06/07/2026 15:00

You can but be aware cabin cases are sometimes checked if the cabin is really full, more likely at busy times

hahabahbag · 06/07/2026 15:01

I do miss the days when flying ba they stored my double umbrella stroller in the first class cloakroom, they were always so helpful to me (flying solo with 2 dc)

Ihatewinding · 06/07/2026 16:23

If it's within the dimensions then you should be allowed to take it on but you do need to make sure you don't queue up last minute (ideally as soon as call the flight if you've not got priority, etc. which is a pita with kids being on the plane early) as once all the overhead lockers are full any "cabin bags" are then taken off you to be checked. We loved a last minute Burger King when travelling pre kids and often had our cabin bags taken to the hold as a result haha

GreenLemonade · 08/07/2026 12:52

I’ve used yoyo as the cabin luggage plenty of times, the cabin crew are very familiar with it.

If you check it in at the gate you’re unlikely to get it back immediately after you land. More often than not it will be waiting for you at the baggage reclaim carousel with all the other checked in bags.

Really? You must not ever take flights with any families with young children - the whole point of having a YoYo or a Joolz pushchair is to be able to take them in the cabin.

Like PPs have said, if it's within the permitted dimensions and you're taking it instead of another piece of hand luggage then just take it into the cabin with you - just make sure you board early so you know there'll be space. The YoYo is the type of pushchair that's most commonly taken as hand luggage - I've had check-in staff try to tell me my Joolz Aer won't fit in the overhead locker because "it's not a YoYo"! So the check-in agent and cabin crew will recognise it and probably won't query it at all - if they do, just tell them you're taking it instead of a cabin suitcase.

TheVeryAngryBanana · 09/07/2026 09:20

I've never flown jet2, but everyone saying a yoyo is always allowed haven't flown much. The new airbuses assume you put bags on end then it doesn't fit. We've had to put it in the hold despite booked cabin bags on all of KLM, Easyjet and Transavia in the last year. We live overseas so travel a lot. Checkin desk staff often say, yes yoyo fine, but cabin and gate staff won't let you. We always take a flight cover and baby carrier in case.
