Travel insurance the covers current health conditions

Can anybody recommend an insurer who will cover current health conditions?

I need travel insurance for my summer holiday. I am 60 and have a few relatively insignificant health conditions, which I will of course declare. The trouble is that my asthma is not currently well-controlled and I am seeing the asthma nurse to try and get it under control. I’m going to a hot country, and must have cover that includes my asthma as heat is one of my triggers.

Is there an insurer who will cover me for asthma on this trip?

We use the comparison site Go Compare. Despite our extensive range of medical conditions (which we declare), we always get reasonably-priced quotes.

I think a lot of people rely on insurance they have through a bank account without realising that once they're waiting for a blood test result or scan or referral or any other 'investigation' (as insurance companies call them) the insurance is either invalidated due to tht or due to you not informing them of that.

You have to update them with every little thing

Use moneysupermarket to compare policies. You can declare pre-existing conditions on there. I’ve used Avanti, Aviva. Staysure and Virgin Money. Do not use Virgin Money! They are usually cheaper for a reason.
In my experience you need to compare every time you buy a policy as prices change a lot.

I bought a years policy with AvantiGo (separate to Avanti). For three of us (21, 23, 64) and two health conditions (MS and Type 1 diabetes). Worldwide coverage with individual trips up to 52 days. £334 (including IPT). If just covering yourself, buying it for one limited trip then it will obviously be a lot cheaper. But they were one of the few that met our conditions (after our pre-existing conditions it was coverage for a long trip).

I did try a price comparison site. It gave me quotes for everyone who would cover me, but did not differentiate between those who would exclude my existing health conditions and those who would cover them. So thanks for all these suggestions. I will check them out individually.

Not true with nationwide. Once covered you are also covered for new symptoms providing the holiday was booked before the conditions arose.
I've been told by them, in writing, that I'm covered for a new, undiagnosed condition that arose after I booked the holiday. I'm not actually going on holiday because I'm not well enough though.

What condition are you covered for if its undiagnosed?

They didn't ask. Fwiw it's something gastro related and I've changed my holiday to 2027 as I don't feel up to travel.
I simply told them I had a new issue and was awaiting NHS appointment. I booked the holiday long before it arose.
When I got the insurance upgrade they sent an email saying " you don't need to tell us about changes" . I didn't believe it because of past experience so I queried it by phone and followed up in writing. Another poster on another thread mentioned the same.
