Affordable August holiday ideas with accessibility and teenage-friendly activities

I’m trying to book for August (left it late as circumstances meant we weren’t sure we could go away).
Can someone suggest a destination?
Needs to be reasonably cheap (£500pp or less, happy to self cater), accessible for DH with a stick, appeal to DC age 13-20 so possibly watersports/ history/ wildlife, not be entirely city based (DH has ptsd and needs respite from crowds/ noise) and not be a Brits abroad type vibe. Don’t need kids clubs or entertainment.
We’ve done France loads and DH loves it but I fancy a change. DH doesn’t like Spain (he’s been to Barcelona and cantabria) and would be on edge in Arabic countries (PTSD).

Greece? Italy?

not sure about your budget though

I’ve seen Greek islands in budget, Italy too. No idea about areas/ resorts though, are you familiar with any?

Italy? The lakes are chilled out and perfect to unwind. Fly to Milan and take the train up to lake Como. We stayed in Lierna and borrowed the owners canoe and boat. We had self catering, and we did have transport (drove from uk) so went to the bigger supermarket in mandelo. We stayed 5 nights there and it was pretty much perfect for 2 though it slept 4 officially

I really want to go to Slovenia - I’ve heard it’s like the Italian lakes without the price tag!

@hahabahbag nice idea but is it possible to do Lake Como for £500 pp in August?

OP are you comfortable driving to Europe? I would suggest heading to The Hague in the Netherlands

I would drive from the UK; if you need to stop overnight to split the journey, I’d stay somewhere in Ghent on there way there - spend the next day mooching around Ghent. Or I’d stay overnight at Le Petit Manoir near Bergues (it is in the middle of nowhere but it is gorgeous and great value - about £195 for 4pp for one night with a fabulous breakfast in August.)

Then 6 nights £1300 for a holiday let near Scheveningen beach near The Hague. It is a very easygoing place, you can surf and there is laidback nightlife. Lots of sights in the city without the tourist hustle of Amsterdam, and there’s plenty going on.

Its only 30 mins drive to Duinrell if you want a water park, and you have the beach and plenty of interesting things to see in the city.
