Anyone been to Therme Bucharest? If so, any tips and recommendations?

You need to bring some type of footwear like flip flops or buy them there. If you want to actually swim rather than just use the thermal pools you have to wear a swimming cap.

Went last June, and absolutely loved it. It is massive, You will have a fab time. It is a three tier thing, and one of the tiers is full of kids (great if you have them) buy the higher tier if you don't. Tips: You have to have flip flops, sliders or some alternative shoes to the ones you are wearing to get in (they will not accept what you are wearing with zero tolerance), and possibly don't take good ones (or "popular" ones - I watched a guy get out of the pool and put some Nike sliders on, wear them until he got to his sun-lounger, then realise they were not his, albeit the same ones, then he walked back to get his and just disregard the other ones - we took them back to the pool area so the other guy did not just come out and find his footwear gone). It gets busy and people put their stuff on chairs etc. (although it wasn't a real problem in June) so get in early. There are people drinking in some of the pools (swim up bars and so on) wasn't an issue when we went, but I suspect it could have been. There are loads of choices iro food, and it is all reasonably priced (for a UK person) but obviously quite expensive for Romanians. IRO of transport, there is a bus from Bucuresti but it takes a while, but we got a bolt / uber for about £18, and because we were flying home the next day (it is very near the airport) we were planning on getting an uber back to the airport hotel. But we did not succeed, and I think there are a few problems there (fake uber, one was cancelled, it was a bit mobbed). In the end, we actually got the bus, which only took 10 mins, then a 10 mins walk (safe) so no issues but do be careful when you get out because it was busy and confusing. x

Stay near the airport not in the old town - it’s so much closer. Have at least two days there - there is so much to explore. If you’d like a treatment ensure you are at the front of the queue for opening time - they book upstairs in the adults area

Lots of people in the Extreme Day Trips Facebook groups go there, so might be worth a look, I've seen a few tips like don't go at the weekend if possible as it gets very busy.

I don't know if there's currently any other Thermes but they're building one near the Trafford Centre near Manchester although its going to be a good couple of years at least before it opens - its been ongoing for years and delayed by COVID. I also imagine that the cost will have increased massively.

We went last year in June and had a fabulous time. Thoroughly recommend visiting mid week to reduce the crowds. We stayed in an Airbnb walking distance from Therme. The prices inside were really reasonable. £5 for cocktails from the swim up bars etc.
You can rent towels and bathrobes too.

I Would definitely return.

Yes. It’s fabulous. I had a late evening flight and spent most of my day there as it’s close to airport.
just watch out for the taxi drivers as they’ll ‘cancel’ your uber and then approach you at the pick up point and offer to take you to the airport - for double the price no doubt.

You will have a great time if you go into it knowing it’s more like a fancy public baths with lots of facilities than a traditional English spa. It’s not super relaxing as such (lots of people and very loud) but it is so, so fun and there’s so much to do. I certainly wouldn’t do two full days there though, one would be enough for me. And it does get very busy - a PP said that it’s expensive for Romanians but this isn’t the case at all, my Romanian family and colleagues find it super reasonable which is why it always so busy! Arrive as soon as the doors open if you want to get a lounger and book treatments immediately if you want one.

I went last year and we had an absolute blast. We got there about 30 mins before opening and were about 5th in the queue, ditched our stuff in a locker and went straight upstairs to book treatments. They are really limited and people who were maybe 5 minutes behind us didn’t get one. After booking treatments we were able to get beds for 6 of us all together in the palm area. Treatments were really good and we stayed until 10pm. Make surE you check out the free stuff they have on, we did a sauna with a mud mask but again needed to be there early. For context we went on a Saturday, I believe it is a little quieter in the week.
