Japan in July - am I mad?!

Next year my DC are doing A levels and GCSEs so will finish school at the end of June, and I'm planning on taking 3 weeks off work to go away with them.

I've always wanted to go to Japan, and my youngest has found loads of things that he wants to do when there. However my eldest has ASD and dislikes hot weather (he is slightly obsessed with the Met Office app and is already worried about the heatwave next week).

Am I mad to consider Japan??

@MeetMeOnTheCorner February should be lovely. Some parts of Japan will will be very cold at that time of year but lots will be crisp, bright and dry and in Kyushu it would typically be pretty mild. If you go at the start of the month you can catch Setsubun celebrations, which look so much fun. We’re planning on going to Naritasan for Setsubun next year.

Going at other times will be trickier due to mocks, shorter school holidays etc, so back to the drawing board for planning but we will get there eventually!

Honestly, I went in Summer and had no issues, many places have AC, and aside from hiking monkey mountain and the rabbit island, most places had indoor places where you can spend the midday hours. Just make sure to pack extra sunscreen as I had to reapply more often due to humidity.

I'd argue UK is worse during heatwaves... nowhere cool to stop and rest. Japan is already well adapted for the hot summers.
