Stuck on what holiday this year with menopause

Early 50’s and not coping with the heat as in full blown menopause so beach holiday out. I still have a15 and 10 year old so need to accommodate them. I feel shattered so want an easy holiday and want to relax but need something for the kids. Some culture and some relaxation Any ideas? Either UK or Europe.

Munich for a couple of days - great art galleries with air con and massive park. Then train to Austrian alps perhaps by a lake. Hotel with a pool and perhaps in place with stuff for the teens (watersports/climbing). Hiking if not too hot - it does feel different there and the huts are excellent stopping places for cold drinks. Go after the cable cars open for the summer and you can cut if some of the climb. We’ve stayed in several Austrian alps spa hotels and they’ve all been excellent and very relaxing.

I’m the same age as you and we booked Madeira yesterday! We go in three weeks and it’s supposed to be around 25c in July which is pleasant I think.

Scandinavia. We've had some lovely summer holidays in Denmark and Sweden. It was warm but not hot.
I also think Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and it's generally a fair bit cooler than Southern England.

Cruise to Alaska, Norway or Baltics. Lots for the DC to do and the ships are lovely and air conditioned.

Really not into cruises! Love some of these ideas though. Love the idea of the Alps and never thought of that.

@peebles32 I still get too hot and I’m 70. We liked Canada and Alaska with dc!

Oh no. I can’t have hrt for health reasons so looks
like cold places for a while!

HRT if you haven’t got on it yet do, symptoms stopped within a week. Off to a lovely AI in southern Europe soon!

This. Hrt stopped my hotter-than-the-sun feeling within the week. And I usually run very much on the cool side due to thyroid stuff so it was really really awful to be so fucking HOT all the time.

Cyprus for us this summer.

Badlands1 · 21/06/2026 18:47

Donegal
Lovely countryside and won't be too hot

Austrian alps. We’ve stayed in St Johann im Pongau, and Maria Alm and used the local buses to get to the summer ski lifts. Quite breezy!

Or Madeira - yes it can be hot, but windy.

Scotland or the Lake District
Northern Spain on the west coast
Denmark
Norway
Finland
Cruise Alaska (there’s a TV programme on that follows Alaskan cruises at the moment. Looks amazing).
Canaries - usually around 23-28 degrees all year round.

The baltic sea coast of Germany.
