P&O Iona Cruise Norway

We’ve booked our first family cruise aboard P&O Iona to the Norwegian Fjords next May. Will be 2 adults and a 7 year old.
Has anyone been on this ship or to this destination that has any top tips for novice cruisers?

I have and it was good, dont think we are going on a cruise again anytime soon but it was great for Norway with young kids. I'm rubbish at remembering anything but did use helpful Facebook groups where people are very detailed and knowledgeable! P&O iona hints and tips / stupid questions were the names

We did this cruise (on IONA) 2 years ago and we had a brilliant time, so much so we went on another cruise last year and have two more booked.
FB has several P&O IONA pages where you can find out lots and ask questions.
My tips are to book excursions well in advance as they get booked up really far in advance, depending on which Fjords you are visiting there are some brilliant sights.
Take clothes for all weather as it can be changeable.
You will have a wonderful holiday- enjoy!

We did the same cruise a couple of years ago in July. It was a great trip altho a couple of our ports were changed due to protesters at some of them.

We didn't do any excursions but did our own tours and stuff at the ports. Its so scenic.

Norway itself is very expensive, we paid £22 for 2 beers in a local pub and £4 for a half litre bottle of water from a supermarket.

We are looking at doing a similar cruise soon as they seem to change the ports up a bit and we absolutely loved it.

Our DS was a mid teen and he preferred the kids/teenage club to coming off the ship with us. I can't recall if younger children were allowed to stay in the club if parents went off ship, but there wasn't much off the ship for younger kids to do.

I haven’t been on that cruise but found YouTube videos were really helpful to learn everything there was to know about a cruise we did do.

@BlindGuyMcSqueezy yes I forgot about youtube.

EmmaCruises is quite good.

We went on Iona last year. It was honestly my favourite holiday, Norway is just beautiful.
Our highlight was at Flam, the zip line followed by the cycle back to the ship. Absolutely incredible

Thank you for the replies.
I’m not on fb but have looked up a few YouTube videos. Always nice to hear from others who have done the cruise and enjoyed it!

It’s a lovely holiday. Beautiful ship, gorgeous scenery. I’d happily do again, kids loved it too.

Most of the trips can be booked way cheaper independently. I was a bit annoyed that the "nominal fee" for teddy bear making was £23 per child which isnt nominal to me!

We loved it and had a great time but booked all our excursions independently. The chocolate troll making was the same price for 4 of us as the ship offered per person!

Also some of the kids events on sea days were really busy so if youve promised the kids they are going to one i recommend turning up extra early.

Have fun!
