Help me find a holiday - September sun, short flight, five nights, near restaurants

So time consuming searching various holiday sites without really knowing what I'm looking for. We're going mid/late September for a short break (five nights probably) and want some sun, relaxation and some restaurants within walking distance. Two ladies, no children, flying from London airports (ideally no more than a 3 hour flight). Can anyone recommend me a hotel/resort that fits this (but not £££) and which company should I book with?!

Malta, fab food great September weather, you can stay in the city Valletta, or head up the coast to an all inclusive in st Julian’s.

Big upside is that it’s safe for women travelling, I go with mum most years and feel so safe, it’s friendly.

it’s like the best of all of the med on one tiny island and you can grab the open top bus and explore easily.

If it’s not a beach you seek look at Taormina Sicily, fly from Gatwick to Catania. Lots of lovely restaurants, a real people watching place. You can also book a day trip up Etna.

south of France would be another thought, short flight or take the train.

if you prefer a package we usually use tui as hassle free, they have a good search engine on their website to find holidays within you parameters - eg select b&b or self catering, airport and date(s) you can depart plus crucially budget

@Strawberryteabag Cavtat is a short bus ride or boat ride away from very crowded Dubrovnik. Lovely little port with nice restaurants and hotels. Very easy to get to and close to the airport. Would definitely stay there rather than expensive Dubrovnik.

Playa blanca Tenerife

Playa Blanca is in Lanzarote, but I would recommend there anyway (I went by myself last November, stayed in the H10 White Suites, which was lovely and its adults only and walking distance to the marina with lots of restaurants).

For Tenerife my current favourite is Puerto de la Cruz, but its a bit of a trek from the airport so a package with a transfer might be easier although you can get there on public transport but you might have to change in Santa de la Cruz depending what time your flight arrives as direct buses appear infrequent, according to Google at least, but this is often a poor representation of Spanish bus times, they're often much better off you look at the app or website for the local bus company.

Look at Katelios, in Kefalonia. A small and reasonably quiet resort which is mainly just a strip of restaurants and bars along the beach. Short flight from London.

Look at Tui for various different options.

Why would you stay in Cavtat over Dubrovnik? Im trying to decide which of these places to stay. Is it easy to get from one to the other for a day trip?

Yes I would. We actually stayed in a villa just up the coast from Dubrovnik. Lovely views but we didn’t have the option to just walk out to eat. We had hired a car but tended to use Ubers to get to Dubrovnik town as parking is pretty impossible there. I think Cavtat has the best of both worlds. Dubrovnik can get a bit overwhelming and busy and I wouldn’t fancy staying in the walled town itself. You can easily get to Dubrovnik from Cavtat by boat, there is a small ferry / water bus.

I would recommend accommodation with a swimming pool, or if you want to swim in the sea then you’ll need swimming shoes as it tends to be from rocks.

I’d say Malaga, I’ve been there 3 times with different friends. Loads of history , art, restaurants and beach. I’ve always found something new to see and do. Easy to get a day trip/ train/ bus to interesting places as well.

Following as I’m looking for the same!

I also agree with Malaga. Really great city to visit.
