Suitcase sizes Ryanair -new guidelines

Hi

Can anyone recommend a soft shell cabin bag which falls within the new 55x40x20 limit, including handles and wheels? (Weight limit 10kg)

I do have an American Tourister but it’s 55 without the wheels taken into account , and they are almost certainly going to object to that.

Thank you.

I don’t know if they do soft shell but Tripp definitely do ones that meet Ryanair size limits. Which magazine recently did a feature on cabin bags as well, which might be worth a look.

Ryanair's overhead cabin bag maximum size has been 55x40x20 since at least 2011 (see for example here). I fly with them about 8 times a year and have used the same bag for 15 years.

The only recent change to their baggage allowance was a couple of years ago, when the increased the underseat bag size from 40 x 25 x 20 to 40 x 30 x 20, because the new EU minimum was 40 x 30 x 15.

Of course, you still have to meet the size, but if for some reason you're imagining that it's changed and your bag that used to work no longer does, that's not correct.

@tina27ayodaDo those suitcases sizes include the wheels, do you know?

Yes they do, I have both Travelpro and Tripp (the hardshell ) and the sizes are correct. Ive used both with Ryanair . Just be careful with the soft sided that you don't overpack as they will bulge

Flew a couple of weeks ago, our hand luggage cases weren’t even looked at much less weighed. Liverpool to Lanzarote and back. We just used the hand luggage we’ve had for years.

I think the RA staff are very good at spotting which bags do and do not fit their limits and targeting the ones which don't.

I have an old It Worlds Lightest trolley case that's bang on the 55 x 20 limit, not sure about the other dimension and its never been checked, even on flights when they've been looking at lots of bags. Likewise the rucksack I use as my small bag is usually not bothered with.

But what surprises me is the number of people who turn up with bags that are obviously bigger than the limit and then get annoyed when made to pay to put them in the hold. Surely you'd have to have been living under a rock to not know that this is how RA operate?

This isn't a new size, it's been like this for as long as I can remember.
