Legoland - Worth Going?

DS keeps telling me he wants to go to Legoland. I have the kids free entry voucher but it's getting there that I need a bit of advice on.

I'm skint just now, so the cheapest way I can find is:-

Flights - Prestwick to Stansted (£58 for 2)
Travel Inn at Stansted (£19 per night)
Car Hire - £30

I checked the AA website and it looks about a 2 hour drive from Stansted to Legoland. I could only afford to take him for 1 night and 1 day there. Is it worth it or should I save up for next year?

how old ? tbh it really isn't so exciting as to be worth such a convoluted trip tbh. Need to allow at least 2 hours (M25) from Stansted.

He's 5. TBH, I'm not fussed about it. I don't know anyone else who's been. If it was a fantastic day out, then I'd live with the trek and the drive.

He's just seen the ad on the telly loads and thinks it looks great.

The rides are pretty much the same as any theme park , just given a Lego theme, and the models are great if you are into Lego but I'am bit seen one, seen them all.

I would tell him that you will take him when he is a bit older. I would say he would enjoy it more when he is about 8. It is good but not as good as to warrant all of that travelling. but don't go at the weekend or holidays as it is ridiculously busy.

Thanks for that, I'll tell him he can go for a treat for his 8th birthday or something.

i took my two - aged 3 and 4 and it was a good day out - would only go if you have vouchers. it cost us £48 for 2 adults and 2 children after using some tesco points for one ticket, walkers voucher for another and one freebie ticket flyer.

if you need a place to stay for a night i am 10mins from stanstead and you and him are welcome to stay if it helps save some money.

He may not be tall enough for some of the rides at 5 which means that you would not get all the benefit of the trip.
Would it not be possible to fly down early one morning, do the whole day at lego land, stay in a local hotel and then do all the next day before flying back. The do a 2 day ticket which isn't that much more than a one day one. If lego land was boring you could always do Windsor Castle

Most of it is fine if you are a metre tall, my just turned 5 year old has been tall enough since last summer.

Hertsnessex, you are a sweet heart. Thank you so much for the offer.

I think I'll put it off till next year. I have a weekend away and am also going up north for a few weeks to stay with a friend. I'll save for next year and will make more of a holiday of it, go for a few days, see some other things.

Thanks again for all the help.
